Velvet Pig — Restaurant in Mobile

DO NOT EAT HERE. 21 and up. We brought our family here for lunch based on the reviews and man were we all let down extremely. I’m not sure if these reviews are from sober people because it was not good. I ordered Philly cheesesteak (sandwich smaller than my hand and no seasoning could be tasted as well as the bread was unbearable to eat too hard), daughter ordered the burger and it looked ok for a 7yr old (had to take to go), no lids for any drinks so we had a spill and then they found a coffee cup to put drink in, other daughter ordered the loaded fries and if there was more than an ounce of pig belly on those scant fries I’d be floored, wife ordered catfish and it looked great but didn’t taste great. Oh and this meal was over $96!!!

Portions are super small. Not kid friendly and no where on Google does it state otherwise. Quality of food is subpar. For $100 and maybe a little more I could’ve taken my family ANYWHERE for lunch and we were catfished by the reviews and pictures. Don’t go.

The only saving grace was Cypress the waitress who tried to be accommodating by putting us outside on a picnic table to eat.

Very delicious! Atmosphere and customer service is great. I love the design and the nice artwork! I visited this place on 1/12 with my husband for the first time. He had the smash burger, I had the birria quesadilla and we shared the crab dip. The smash burger was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! The bacon jam, melted cheese and secret sauce with the grilled onions really set it off 100/10. The birria quesadilla was different than expected but good 6/10. The crab wonton dip was amazinggg 100/10. The sweet chili sauce on top was a great addition! I wanted to try more items on the menu so I had my husband get takeout from here today. I tried the collard & artichoke dip 10/10 very delicious! The boudin egg rolls are delicious as well, they have a nice kick and a nice cheese surprise 9/10. We both got the smash burger with fries, it was delicious and the consistency with flavor and taste was the same as the first time trying it. I will be revisiting this location and plan to try more items...

Well, I had planned an impromptu small family gathering/reunion. The FIRST time I had ever PLANNED a get together ever. And I hit it out of the PARK!! I, myself had the CRAB RANGOON dip with those FRIED WONTONS for dipping, A+, COLLARD GREENS and that oh SO amaizing CORNBREAD A+, and my Sister gave me a piece of her PORK BELLY SKEWERS, OMG! My other Sister let me taste her SQUASH CASSEROLE!!! If you are from REAL southern cooking,another A+! The atmosphere, just OUTSTANDING!! The precious, very spacious outdoor seating was so nice and shaded with hanging chars so people could just swing at chat while drinking their beers from THE ICE BOX, which is the VELVET PIG is located INSIDE OF!!
