0.5 stars extra for the amazing service and the wonderful servers! We came here around 6:30 pm on a Sat evening. Pretty empty so got seated immediately.
The server had several recommendations when we asked and we ended up going with some of her favorites. We got the kung Pao shrimp, the twice baked pork, chicken chow mein and the crab meat and cheese puffs.
Food was served very quickly, and was pipping hot! The puffs were very good, I love mine with the schezwan sauce but also liked to have them with the duck sauce they provided. We asked for the shrimp to be made extra spicy. I loved the extra spicy but it did overpower the other flavors in the dish. Should've stuck to regular spice. The pork was very good, and I are quite a bit of it. I was really full by the time I got to the chow mein so I only had a taste and it was good too!! We couldn't finish so we've boxed it up and plan to eat it on our journey back home.
The tea was excellent and very soothing. This was a good meal but the highlight was the friendly staffers and their quick...

We always ordered Mapa tofu, Orange chicken, garlic bokchoy, white rice. They remembered our order everytime and gave us really big joy of food!
*Mapa tofu - chinese style, it means extra spicy with pepper corn(?). It was not what I had tasted before, which was really authentic taste and Korean calls the taste 'Mara'.
*Orange chicken - extra crispy, sauce on the side. My husband said it's the best Orange chicken in California:) Sauce was properly sweet and there's real orange. Chicken was crispy even when we brought it home.
It's a pity that we found this place late and we couldn't tried many other authentic dishes, but we tried spicy beef something with silantro (written in chinese, but they will know when you explain), which was also great and big enough for two.
I'm not sure I can find the replacement of China Garden in my new town;( We will definitely visit China Garden when we come back...
ย ย ย Read moreThis is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Monterey. For several reasons. 1st Is the hospitality , The staff tries very hard make you feel at home and comfortable, like you are a regular even though it's been ages since you stopped by. You will be treated with genuine interest . The waitress asks about my family and grandfather who only managed to meet her once several years ago. She simply cares about her patrons. 2nd Is the fresh food , crunchy veggies and delicious meats. I'm never ever disappointed trying a different dish. And 3rd Is how fast the food comes. Those guys back in the kitchen are wizards lol seriously 10-15 mins for the hole table to get all items ordered. I been there during the lunch rush. 10 mins tops for two people to get there food at a nice sit down place.
This is the most consistent place for great...
