La Sala's Bi-Rite Market — Restaurant in Monterey

I am a everyday customer who goes in after work Monday-Friday. The young man who works the front counter is awesome and gives great customer service ! Today well making my normal purchase, I asked if there was a restroom i could use, he stated unfortunately they have no public restrooms, which I was fine with, but also stated that since I was a frequent customer I could use it and told me to go down the hall to the right, when I went into the back, a large lady with a hat rudely told me I could not be there and that there was no public restrooms, I tried to explain that the guy in the front counter told me I could, and she rudely cut me off and stated again in a yelling voice that there was no public restrooms. She was extremely rude , which was uncalled for due to the fact that I was granted permission to use the restroom. Like I said I am practically a everyday customer but due to her not having good customer service skills, i will no longer support your business, her attitude was uncalled for and I did not appreciate it. Read online rave reviews about this place so came early morning looking for this place for sandwiches. Cute that you can handpick your own rolls for sandwiches, but wondered if everyone is using tongs. Special of the day meat, tri-tip, was not ready in the 1st hour since opening. Disappointed. Small dine-in area on one side of market was convenient. Large cold beer selection in cooler along back wall. Storefront is easy to miss while driving, because storefront doesn't look like a typical market/liquor store. I had heard a lot about this place for years, and I never got around to go in there. At first glance it’s a very nice and clean deli. Kudos to the employees that are maintaining the kitchen. The shelves in the store are sparsely loaded with merchandise. However, they do have a few unique items. The prices are higher than average I purchased a Reuben sandwich and my surprise it did not come with thousand island. The cheese was not Swiss. It was provolone and it has pickles and peppers. Very unusual for a Reuben. The meat is not stacked as it typically should be. I also got a mortadella cold sandwich Perhaps my expectations...
