The Diner Debacle We ventured out for breakfast on Saturday morning, choosing a seemingly quiet place they were not that busy and told us to choose a table. We did and it was so empty their were available booths on either side of the table we chose. After settling in, we placed our order with our waitress, expecting the usual breakfast fare.
However, we watched in surprise as the patrons who sat down on either side of us received their meals first. Puzzled, we inquired about the delay in our order. This led to an unexpected encounter with a second waitress, sporting what seemed like an exaggerated southern drawl, and very upset over our inquire. She then informed us that she had entered our order after the others, on either side of us despite our earlier arrival. She clearly does not see the issue.
When we questioned her involvement, given she wasn't our server, she retorted with a dismissive, "Well, you can leave." My husband, amused by the absurdity, chuckled and insisted we were there for the food. However, I was left uneasy, imagining the worst could happen to our meal. Spitting in it etc.
True to my suspicion, I couldn't bring myself to eat, worried about the potential sabotage. AS the other waitress was clearly spiteful and ready for revenge. Following this unpleasant exchange, the diner's owner appeared, offering apologies and a spontaneous 50% discount on our meal, along with complimentary cake, in an attempt to mend the situation. (We asked for nothing except our meal. But we took the discount and cake why not?)
While the owner's gesture was appreciated, it couldn't erase the discomfort caused by the server's toxicity. Her attitude was beyond unprofessional; it was downright harmful to the diner's atmosphere and reputation.
In the end, despite the owner's efforts, we've decided against returning again. The memory of the incident has left a sour taste that not even free cake could sweeten.
The Takeaway? Just as not every breakfast is a culinary masterpiece, not all customer service is created equal. If this server could shed her apparent grudge and attitude, she might just excel at her job. Also drop the fake accent we all know its not...
Read moreI stopped by around 6 p.m. on a Wednesday evening, excited to support a local spot. The place smelled great from the outside, which made me look forward to dining in. There were only two people eating inside and one takeout order picked up during the 45 minutes I was there.
The staff mostly stayed off to the side, chatting and laughing. Unfortunately, my water was never refilled, and the server didn’t really check in, which was disappointing considering I was the only seated customer for most of the visit.
The food, however, was pretty solid. I ordered the veggie lasagna, and while I was surprised by how sweet the red sauce was and pretty liquidy, I actually enjoyed the flavor all things considered. The pasta was cooked al dente, and overall the dish was flavorful. The salad, on the other hand, was a bit awkward to eat — the vegetables were cut in huge pieces and needed to be chopped down to fit in a bite. The dressing was pretty plain.
I also tried the baklava, which I’d rate around a 6/10. It was okay, but not particularly memorable.
If their lasagna is any indication of how they prepare their other pasta dishes and sauces, I’d say it’s worth coming back for that. Just be aware of the service on slower days — maybe consider ordering to go. Still, I encourage others to support local businesses like this one. With a little more attentiveness to guests, this place could...
Read moreI called the store before leaving a review on all the public platforms I can, and I’m not done leaving my reviews. The manager was extremely rude, tried to talk over me when I was politely telling him how every single part of my order was done incorrectly. Told him that I’m now at work and there’s nothing that could be done and I like to be refunded and he would not do that. And the worst part is he was just extremely rude and didn’t care. They literally stole my lunch money today and I have no food for my workday. It is also completely disgusting and I’m not even sure if it’s legal they just dump the hummus in the Styrofoam. The Styrofoam could’ve been on the floor peoples hands touch it. This is not sanitary and I’m not sure if this is even legal but it is absolutely disgusting. They use extremely cheap cups, and the cup snapped in half carrying it into work. They charge three dollars for a small tea but they use the cheapest carpet can’t hold a drink. They didn’t even give me my drink. I had to go back and get it. My salad was made wrong, and I also received the wrong dressing, I received absolutely no utensils when I put a message please and thank you I need utensils. The list could go on. The worst part is my roommate told me not to order from here and I did anyway. They’re ruining the reputation and the manager literally...
