Discrimination Racism and Abuse of Power
My name is Edson Marreiro, married l have 4 kids. I reside in Mooresville, North Carolina. I’ve decided to write this letter because I felt racially discriminated against. On Monday, March 13th, 2023, around 7:50 p.m., my wife and I decided to have a quiet dinner at the Outback Steakhouse restaurant in Mooresville, NC. I arrived alone and sat at the bar to have a drink while I was waiting for my wife. The bartender came over, and I ordered a glass of wine, which she served me with no problem. After approximately 15 minutes, I ordered a second glass of wine; another 20 minutes or so, I ordered a non-alcoholic Daiquiri. When I finished my daiquiri, I ordered a third glass of wine. That’s when the bartender decided to stop serving me. She addressed me, saying that she would check with her manager if she could serve me another drink. I was surprised that she said that since I did not show indications of being aggressive or signs of impairment. The manager was racist towards me, saying that she would not serve me another glass of wine due to the law, which I did not see anywhere, After approximately seven minutes, they decided to call the police on me because the manager can't prove to me where the law is nailed to the wall… A racist female police officer arrived, everything happened in inside restaurant, private place u pay to have good time… asking me what was going on. I explained to her that I was ordering a third glass of wine and then was refused, even though I was not drunk or feeling intoxicated. She asked for my ID, and I responded by asking her why she needed it. Because I questioned her, she abused her power and arrested me and didn’t show me law… I wish that someone would have explained the rules or had them on display. The police ended up detaining me in front of my wife. As a customer, I felt embarrassed, judged, and aggressively discriminated against. I was arrested for 8 hours and had to pay a $1,500 bond. I was released at 4 a.m. that morning without knowing which law I had broken. It is my understanding that if the restaurant has a policy on alcohol, they must have alcohol Breathalyzer to make sure the customer has indeed had too much alcohol. If a restaurant has its own laws, you have to put it on the same board as you put the menus out there for people to decide if they want to go in or not. That way, the restaurant may never again abuse its power and mistreat a customer. I am still waiting to receive the security and body camera footage from the police and restaurant in order to better comprehend what happened that night. An ordinary Monday that was supposed to be a quiet evening turned into a nightmare, all because of a glass of wine. Now, put yourself in my situation. How would you feel? Please let me know which actions you would have taken against Outback restaurant Steakhouse and the police officer who favored the...
Read moreTruck driver stopped to get a steak. Ordered medium rare. Bone in. I had a semi rig. Knowing there parking lot wasn't set up for people like me to be a customer. i got my food to go. Drove north 13 miles to the rest area. Opened up my meal on wheels. My steak was 60 percent charcoal. 20 percent bone the very center was so dry. But there was a few spots of meat. I honestly can not ever recall getting a worse cooked steak that i paid for and was served to me. Even army steaks were better.
Having said that i do not eat my own cooking. I called in and spoke to a man named alex who assured me they found my purchase and i will be get my money back. I have deliveries to make and can't backtrack.
Honestly i know that is the best they can do. So i am happy with it. But i really wanted a steak more than the money.
This is more oops stuff happens.
I have a photo, but honestly. The photo doesn't really do the steak justice. It looks almost okay from the photo and I had already tossed it into a dumpster before i thought to look at the photo i took. The whole bottom of the meat is charcoal. I originally took the photo to rub it into my folks faces. Before i realized hey this is bad.
Nothing wrong with the service and the people are nice and polite. Just something i am sure slipped...
Read moreOk it's time to bring in the qualified adults and TEACH the kids on how to manage the shop. It is a Tuesday night and there were 8 tables occupied and one party of 10. Plenty of servers. However, most every one appeared to be about the age of a high school student. Ours seemed good but was a ghost. Service took forever.
Then my food came out incorrect and cold so rather than asking me or solving it herself, the server had to leave to get a manager. The "manager" who looked like her classmate, asked me what I wanted. I asked her what she thinks she should do to solve the issue. She suggested one option and I said "That sounds like a great idea". That great idea you ask? Bring the right thing out hot. Then came the wait, and the wait and more of the wait. 25 minutes later I recieve my food after asking if they forgot about me. The only people left in the place was two tables. Got my bill and paid it. It's going to be a long time before we...
