JJs is a "trying to be a deli but not quite there" kind of place. They want to make up subs but they want you to pick one of THEIR subs off the sign instead of building you YOUR sub. They don't have all of the common sub shop fixins for subs - just THEIR favorites, not YOUR favorites. And they do weird things like scraping half of the bread out of the bun before they build the sandwich! Say what?! And when they are making the sub they hide the fixins from you with the huge lid that flips up over them so you won't see and get an idea to add a tomato or pickle during the build. If you want a real sub, go to the deli counter at a Publix grocery store in Winston! You won't regret the trip! I think Jimmys gets away with the weirdness because they are the only game in town for subs that I have found so far. That's why I gave them 4 stars. So let's put it this way, if you can't find real subs in Mount Airy, go to Jimmys. What they give you is good - it's just their way,...

You absolutely cannot get it on there, or any other sauce or onion or mushroom or spinach or pepper or salt. I guess I was stupid thinking we could get what we wanted at a place that specializes in subs. I mean, that's all they make-subs. I'm a vegetarian, and my sub had 2 slices of tomato, 3 cucumbers (which I hate), cheese and lettuce. That's it, no onions, no peppers, no mushrooms, no spinach, no guacamole, no salt or pepper. The bread was so thick with a few slivers of 3 veggies on the entire sub. My daughter and I both threw our's in the trash. Will...
Read moreWe made an online order and went to the counter to give the name. One of the two older gentlemen kept snipping at us "We don't have a Kylie order" while waving his hands all around. I asked him " Is this 1996 Rockford Street?" After getting increasingly flustered the man finally realized our order had been made and was sitting on the back counter waiting for us. We received a quick "Sorry". Other than that exchange everything else was great. The other two employees were kind and the...
