After driving around town, my lady and I had stopped into several restaurants with very long waits. I starting to get impatient and dying with hunger. We drove by Bangkok and decided to give it a try. My first experience was a pleasant one. We were greeted and sat very promptly. Our server was a very sweet and polite young man that you can tell sincerely cares about his job and customers. The atmosphere of the restaurant has a nice warm cozy feel. The restaurant is decorated with wooden trinkets that are as well for sale to purchase. I always love some greenery when dining out and was thankful to see Bangkok has living plants in the restaurant. This instantly changes my mood and makes me feel more at peace while dining out. The inside of the restaurant was very clean and well lit with lighting. The outside as well has a pleasing view, nice big parking lot - caters to handicapped and also well lit after daylight hours. Now to the food... I ordered a Thai coffee and water starting off. The coffee was great! One of the better ones I've had around town... For my entree I decided on the chicken Pad Thai - per usual first trying a new Thai spot. I must say it was filled with flavor and the spice level of 4 was just about perfect for me. The flavor of this dish brought me back to the first time I ever tried a Thai restaurant- which was conveniently named Bangkok Thai as well... I then wondered if they were affiliated with each other. The other Bangkok in Lebanon, TN merged with another Thai restaurant in town and it's just not the same taste... I was VERY pleased when my first bite brought back such good taste of my past fave! Although, this is one of the better Thai restaurants I have had in Murfreesboro. The only shortcoming I could comment on is the price ($) to portion sizes. A bit more expensive than most of the other Thai options in town with much smaller portions. Overall, great restaurant, food, service, and atmosphere!...
Read moreEverytime I move to a different city, one of the first things I search out is a new, go-to Thai restaurant. This place checked all the right boxes.
First, they have menu items beyond what you see at a lower tier Thai eatery where the owners are just churning out unexceptional, low-effort versions of what they consider, "American friendly" dishes. (Basically, dumbed down ingredient and spice wise to avoid spooking the large number of unadventurous local eaters, or to appeal to denser customers who don't have the slightest clue what Thai food is and think that they're at a Chinese restaurant... 😅) They have classics like the many different varieties of Thai curry, tom yum and tom kha gai soups and different styles of Pad Thai. I have tried many of these selections, and they each have a delectable taste unique to this restaurant. As for the more non run-of-the-mill selections, I found the phad prik pow (smoked chili sauce) with prawns and the hilariously named, "drunk beef" to be absolutely delicious and definitely addictive!
Second, they put emphasis on spice levels and will let you customize your dishes to your preferred level of heat. For me, the more Thai chili the better! I always go, "Native Thai." 🌶️🔥🔥🔥🌶️
The third and final box is the overall atmosphere of the place. Bangkok Thai is spacious and decorated with hand made wooden peices of art made in Thailand which you can purchase if you're interested. The owners and wait staff are open and friendly and happy to answer any questions you may have. They'll even make some pretty excellent recommendations! The people here really know how to make you feel welcome and appreciated.
I've found my new Thai place here in Murfreesboro. I don't know how long I will be living here, but it's great having such a wonderful establishment available to get my weekly fix of superb and mouthwateringly-spicy Thai...
Read moreLast night, a friend and I dined at what I would consider a Murfreesboro staple: The Bangkok Thai Cuisine. Everything was delicious and reasonably portioned and priced. The atmosphere was wonderful: warm and inviting. The music did get turned up a little toward the end of our evening, but I think they were about to close. We did sit and talk for a long time! We started with 3 appetizers (we're the build your own buffet people, okay?): Spring rolls, coconut shrimp, and Thai toast. The spring rolls were bright and fresh, the coconut shrimp were crispy and had this interesting warm and spiced flavor on the back end, and the Thai toast was delightful! It had an interesting mouth feel but not a bad one; the flavors were familiar but new in their combination. I had the Kee-Mao Seafood level 4, and she had the spicy basil level 4 with a side of stir fried vegetables. Our spice levels were on point: just hot enough without compromising the flavor. The portions were good (though I probably shouldn't have eaten it all, I'm still full as a type this the morning after 🤣). Something we don't talk about much: the timing was great. The appetizers came out in a reasonable time frame, and the entrees came out as we were done with the appetizers. Timing is usually only noticed when it's really off, so I thought I'd mention it here. If you've never been, slide on over there. They'll feed you well and treat you right! That's why they've been around...
