UPDATE: I spoke to the manager (or interim manager?), Jasmine Duke, in which she told me to do the same thing that the other clerk told my daughter, to send a letter. I told her that she already did that. To that she said that she needed it to be certified in order to prove it. Really? That's not in the contract at all. When I told her to cancel the membership (again) immediately, she said that I need to email her. The address she gave me was returned to sender. I called the murfreesboro location and got the assistant managers email (Mike) and emailed him... hopefully this will get resolved and we'll get a refund for the 6 months of fees that were charged. --- This seems nothing better than a scam.
My daughter has cancelled IN PERSON and in WRITING 3 different times with the Murfreesboro club, and funds are still be withdrawn from her account. The first time the cancellation was made was in June, and she has been charged every month since (It's now December)
There has been no communication from their management with each inquiry. Complete BS.
There is no corporate oversight in each club, so you just have to hope that the inept people working/owning the place will do their job.
Update: In response to their response... We contacted via email, phone, in person, and mail... without satisfaction. We had to be there to sign her up, but you won't talk to us about cancelling? Yet another way that Planet Fitness creates hoops to jump through in order to cancel. Read moreI have been a member here for almost 2 years. I like the gym itself with the amenities especially the hydro bed and lounges. I would give that part a 4 or 5 star. It is clean too which I like. My problem stems from a disagreement that I had with a manager several months back and then I felt like I was personally attacked when one of her associates came to her defense I guess. I asked him to stay out of it but he didn't. I called the 800 number to make a complaint and that person was rude too. I never got a call back from anyone to discuss my concerns. Most of the employees are very friendly but there is one employee there that is very rude. He is a young black male. I don't know his name. For example when I approach him to use the tanning bed he will never make eye contact. He says very little. He never smiles. In fact it is really uncomfortable to deal with him. I always try to wait until someone else can help me. It is hard for me to conceive that I am the only one who notices this behavior. It is worse than poor customer service. Read morePlanet Fitness is an excellent place to work out and meet other people who are like minded. Until recently, I worked out at the facility six days per week. I reduced it to five because my workout is working! The facility introduces new equipment frequently and I really enjoy working out in community as opposed to privately in my own home. The people working at the facility are nice also. The reason why I selected four stars instead of five is because of the lack of cleanliness at the facility. When I first joined two years ago the facility was always clean. Over the last six months I have noticed that it is simply not as maintained as well. I go in five days a week at the same time from 4:00 am to 5:30 am and I see dust bunnies in the same places from day to day. This is disturbing because this is a community facility and possibly hundreds of people use it on a daily basis.
