We were hungry and walked the boardwalk to see what was available, we decided on eating here. We sat on the patio out front. I noticed our table was not cleaned from the previous person. I ended up wiping it down with paper towels that were on the table, I thought maybe they were just busy. However, the whole time we sat there, we watched them remove the plates etc.. after each party left and never once did they clean the actual table. It was 5 different instances during the time we were there. I got a burger w/fries, my bf got a burger w/coleslaw. The burgers were actually huge and pretty decent, except the fact that it says comes with lettuce and tomato and as you can see in the pic there's very little lettuce, there was a thin sliced single tomato on the bottom side of the burger. (Sorry I took a few bites before remembering to take a Pic.) The fries were the hand cut fries and soggy, you also didn't get much. The coleslaw, we both agreed was terrible, basically straight up vinegar and mayonnaise. The waitress was meh, the moment she walked up to us, she literally stood there for like 30 seconds looking at us before saying anything. She wasn't not friendly but she wasn't friendly either, if that makes sense. She was just quick to bring our food and left to go sit inside and when we were done, we waited 10 minutes for the bill before my boyfriend just went inside and told her we wanted the check, she gave it to him then he paid and we left. I forgot to mention while eating I looked down because something touched my foot, it was only a piece of a napkin that the wind blew in, but then I noticed about 20 bugs coming up through the cracks of the patio, they were going down and coming up. I ended up holding my feet up till I was done eating lol. I'm not sure if there's anything they can do about that, but I just wanted to alert peopleto the fact that it could happen. Not a very...
Read moreMy family and I live in Myrtle Beach and this is usually our spot to eat (we come here several times a season, the manager even stated that she recognized us). HOWEVER, we came in tonight with a visitor from out of town (5 total) and just about everything had something wrong with it. We ordered the Don's special pitcher with no coconut (it showed up with coconut). Our oyster salad had bad oysters on it. The replacement appetizer of seafood nachos had fantastic, warm shrimp but ice cold cheese. My son's burger and mine both had cold, hard buns and no flavor. Our friend's clams came with cold, solidified butter. The fries were cold and soggy on every plate. This however, is not why I am writing this review. I am writing because when we calmly explained all of this to the manager she told us "our cooks said everything went out hot", "the bartender says there was no coconut in your drink" and my personal favorite "the clam butter is supposed to be cold, that's just how we serve it". Now I consider myself reasonable and even had everyone at the table try everything anyone complained about just to be sure. We ate almost nothing. The manager took the appetizer and salad off and took 10% off the bill but refused to do anything about the burgers that were barely touched. She even told me "I took 10% off your bill so I basically did give it to you free." We ended up paying $70 for a meal that was hardly touched. When specifically asked about these she at first tryed to tell me that I didn't even have a burger and then changed it to she "couldn't take anything else off because she would get in trouble." What kind of manager refuses to offer a replacement and still makes you pay for food that you couldn't even eat? What kind of manager calls her customers liars when she admittedly sees us in there all the time and we have never complained about anything before? We will never be returning as the management...
Read moreWe went to Dirty Don’s Oyster Bar & Grill at 9:45 PM. The place was still busy, and people were clearly still being served. We sat at one of the outdoor tables. A young woman was taking orders from the table behind us, but completely ignored us. We thought maybe she was in a rush and tried to be understanding.
My husband went inside to ask for menus. Someone who appeared to be working at the bar rudely snapped, “The kitchen is closed.” When my husband pointed out that someone had just taken an order behind us, another polite and understanding server stepped in and kindly said she would assist us. She brought menus and took our drink orders.
Shortly after, the same rude staff member came back angrily, repeating that the kitchen was closed. We explained our order had already been taken, but he replied, “We can’t cook it.” Even after reminding him that we were just handed menus and placed our order, he insisted again—this time saying the kitchen had closed at 9:55. When we pointed out how unreasonable this was, he aggressively said, “Fine, I’ll cook it.” Frankly, we didn’t feel comfortable eating anything prepared by someone so visibly hostile, and we canceled our order.
No one deserves to be treated this way just because a place has good ratings. Since it’s a seafood-focused area, we assumed most places would serve decent food—and in fact, later that evening we had a wonderful dining experience elsewhere.
We usually make it a point to support local businesses when we travel, but this one was a huge disappointment. A dirty kitchen, rude staff, and a complete lack of hospitality. We will never return—and definitely won’t be recommending this...
