The Ole Irish Pub — Restaurant in Myrtle Beach

Last year my family visited this location in June and had a amazing time. Well this year wasn’t so great. Full transparency. It was a little after 10pm last night 8/18 and we just left the boardwalk. In our group it was 5 female adults and 2 boys ages 10/9. Three of the women wanted a shot before we headed back to our room. We went to the outdoor area and I sat at the table (not at the bar) with the boys while we waited on them to get their drinks. I was told no kids after 10 which was fine so one of my family members took the boys to the candy shop. My girlfriend got two double shots of don for $57 and an ice water for me because I started to get real bad heartburn. She came to the table and said I don’t know what’s going on but the bar tenders was really nice to everyone else but them. She said she felt unwanted which was crazy because she was with me last year and we had a great time there. One bartender looked around my age (38) and the other was around his late 50’s with a bald head, beard, tattoos, and skinny. I told my family after the shot we can go. My heartburn got worse so I said before we go I need another cup of water. So I walked over to the bar and the older bartender was there talking to two ladies. I said hi may I have another cup of water? He started to look at me like I disgusted him. He proceeded to walk inside the bar and the ladies at the bar started to talk to me. After a while of waiting she looked at me and said if all you need is some water I’ll get you some. I asked her do she work there and she said no and reached over the bar and poured water in my cup. I asked her was he okay and she said I don’t know what’s going on. I went back to my table and saw him at the bar on the inside talking to other customers laughing. Once he saw that I was back at my table he came back out and continued to talk to the ladies at the bar with his hand blocking the right side of his face. I told the rest of my family that I’m ready to go. We just left. We were the only black people there and both bartenders definitely made us feel that way. I never in my 38 years of living experienced anything like this! The crazy part is I could have made a scene or video recorded everything but we left with grace. On top of everything I’m a social media influencer and this could have been a big story but I’m still in shock from it! Oh shout out to that one customer that came outside and asked was we okay because he felt the energy directed towards us. He apologized and walked us down to a new bar at the end of the block and got us some shots. He was a really sweetheart and showed us that not all people...

My husband and I went here for a date night last week. We didn't really go to drink but heard the food was good so decided to try it. When I ordered I was told they needed a card to open a tab. Never heard of this for someone ordering food but figured... Ok whatever. I asked that she not run my card because my husband was paying separate for it (he was outside feeding the meter) and she said it would not be charged, just remind her and she'll bring us the bill at the end of dinner. So we ate.... We sat outside as there was live music and it was a bit crowded inside. Food was really good and reasonably priced.... Like.... On the menu and pricing I have nothing bad to say at all. It was excellent. Our server was really sweet and did a good job. When we asked for the bill I got a notification on my banking app that my card had been charged. When I asked her about it she said it's a temporary hold and would come off immediately when the bill was paid. So... Ok.... Whatever. We pay bill, leave..... Charge is still there. Next day I call and this.... Let's just call her nasty because that's the nicest word I could use.... Woman answers and tells me basically it's temporary and should drop off in a few days. (I'm giving the short version. She was extremely rude on the phone). When I asked to speak to a manager or someone that could help me with this she said call back Tuesday after 4 (if it was still on my card) and the owner would be there. Well I just got off the phone with another bartender. Apparently there's no manager there and nothing she can do but the owner might be there tomorrow around 6, I could come up there but she doesn't know..... So I'm really hoping the owner sees this because I've been trying to reach you for days now and I need this fixed. My money has been tied up for days.... THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I don't know what else to do and I've been as nice as I can be about it. This needs to be fixed. I really like this place and would love to go there again but if this is the kinda shit show I'll have to deal with I'd rather you give me my money so I can take it elsewhere.

If you are looking at this review as a potential customer.... BRING CASH. The food is great and the service is too if you get the same person we got. But don't give them your card. Also, props to the kitchen staff. They are killing it on that stew...

Sat here right now in Myrtle beach. This bar is awesome. Amanda behind the bar is not only professional but absolutely wonderful to interact with. I had a few questions about the breakfast and few other things and she was super friendly and informative. Great pint of the black stuff and the fries pickles are the best I've ever had. Being from the UK living in America it's hard to find a good Irish pub that backs up the name. Highly recommend this place for a good time, good food and excellent service. Amanda is freaking awesome. Edit... just came in on Saturday for the Irish breakfast. Happy to say it's everything I was looking for in a good English/irish breakfast. Everything was delicious and proper English food. Black pudding was amazing along with the real back bacon. Again Amanda went above and beyond for us to make it an amazing experience 🙌 5 stars...
