Booked a room in June of 2018 for a week in October of 2018. Wanted a 2 bedroom king deluxe which means one king bed, and two small or one large bed in the second bedroom. Chose this specific resort based on layout of rooms advertised. Wanted two bedrooms that were close and no balconies. Nowhere in the room that I chose did it show a balcony for the non-king bedroom.
So since I booked my room for 2 adults and 2 children, aged 5 and 9, you can bet I was NOT happy to see the king bed in a room barely big enough for the bed and then one queen bed in the second bedroom WAAAYYY at the end of the suite with a balcony door!! Yes, my children had a balcony that was easily accessible. Thankfully I have good children who know better, but Atlantica knew I was bringing two small children and STILL gave my kids a balcony. And there was so little room in the bedroom with the king sized bed that I could only climb over the bed to get to the other side. Totally unacceptable.
Despite the horrible roach reviews I read previously, I only saw three Palmetto bugs, aka Cockroaches, and they were all outside. Apparently it's common down there so that's the least of the issues.
The pool area was cleaned every morning. In our suite we received housekeeping every day. Clean towels, garbage removal and sweeping. We had a washer/dryer in our suite which was a nice surprise and came in handy.
The housekeeping staff was very friendly, but the rest of the staff seemed miserable. Not a single smile. I had a slight confrontation with a very snotty front desk clerk on our last night there. Our tiny little lot that is a block away from the hotel was full. I wasn't happy so I had to ask where else to park and was directed to another lot even farther away. When I mentioned that something needed to be noted on the website and that when people have tired children who can't walk long distances, she very rudely told me, "then bring her to the door and then go park." After that she actually asked me if I was even a guest at the resort.
About the parking, my suggestion is to fix it. Or update your website to warn unsuspecting guests that the parking is so far away. And yes, by standards, it is far. Especially at night since it is poorly lit. Not to mention we got a flat tire because of the fact that it was bordered on three sides by a construction site and we got a nail in our tire.
I won't be coming back to this resort, regardless of the good parts because of the parking, the staff and the lack of communication by the resort. Kind of felt like the resort was hiding some important information. With the two week pay ahead and no refund policy, it's pretty shady business practices.
**Update on 10/15/18 Just got the bill for the second nail in another tire. MOVE YOUR PARKING. I should send you the bill for my...
Read moreI stated at the main building over the memorial weekend. Check in was ok. As I was leaving the desk, a group of ladies were complaining about the smell of their sleeping room and a urine smell. Upon entering my sleeping room, I encountered the same smell. There was a huge mold Area near the front door and the carpet smelled something terrible. There were burn holes in the blankets and stains. I took picture for documentation. We asked for towels and bathroom tissue the next day, and the front desk agent said they were out of everything!!!! I explained after being out all day, what were we suppose to do? She just gave me a blank stare. That Sunday morning, I requested front desk to ask housekeeping to bring towels and bathroom tissue when they arrived for work. I called up until 11am still seeking towels and bathroom tissue. When the housekeeper arrived, she entered my room unannounced. She was shocked to see us there. No apology or nothing!!!!! She handed me bath towels only. I explained, we needed wash cloths as well and she immediately got an attitude and rolled her eyes stating “ no one told me that!!” She said I’ll send some washcloths back up. About an hour later, another housekeeper came and knocked. When I answered, she pretty much threw the washcloths in my hand with attitude saying “ here your rags!!” And walked away mad. We left that afternoon and returned to find, somebody had been in our room. Now at check in, the agent stated we would not receive cleaning service but we could get towels and bathroom tissue at the desk anytime. So my question is, why was somebody in our room? We now have a security issue with housekeeping entering sleeping rooms without permission. Lastly, we packing to leave and was about to shower and located a “roach” in the tub and it’s “babies” on the sink. I went down stairs to let the agent know, that I have unwanted friends in my room and her response was, let me guess roaches!!!! I was left Speechless. Apparently this is a common problem that the hotel has not addressed. I asked to speak to a manager but none was available. I called back after I departed to speak with a manager because the front desk agent offered no apology or anything. The agent did say she was speaking to other guest about their disappointing stays and I was transferred to voicemail. We will not be utilizing this property for any future vacations. Customer Service and cleanliness should not be compromised even on a busy holiday weekend. I will await follow up...
Read moreDo not be deceived by Atlantica's Resorts glossy photos of beautiful rooms and oceanfront views, they are designed to draw you in and steal your money. Just last month, June 2021, we planned a much needed long weekend getaway to Myrtle Beach. The Atlantica Oceanfront Resort on Myrtle Beach, SC advertised a package deal for accommodations and tickets to the Carolina Country Music Festival. The resort stated they would get tickets to the four day festival and provide a one bedroom oceanfront condo. Upon making the reservations, there was some confusion, the resort stated they were not sure they could get festival tickets. We reversed the room and purchased tickets separately. Upon arriving at the front desk and reviewing the balance due for the condo accommodations, the receptionist stated they had purchased tickets to the festival. We already had tickets to the festival and felt that because of the confusion we should not have to pay for the extra tickets. The desk receptionist stated we could not check in if we did not pay the full balance including the tickets. After some lengthy discussion, we acquiesced to the unpleasant receptionist and paid the balance so that we could check into our room. Maybe we could sell the tickets prior to the show, we had heard that the festival was sold out. Upon entering our unit, the smell of carpet cleaner was nauseating. The condo was dirty and very dated, certainly not anything like they had advertised. The balcony lock looked like somebody recently broke in, the A/C vents were caked with dust, the metal shelving had grease growing on it and there were pubic hairs on the bathroom floor. YEW!!! It took about fifteen minutes in the unit before we decided to find other accommodations. We called the desk and informed them that the condo was disgusting and we would not stay there.
Later that day, we went to pick up our festival tickets purchased through the Atlantica Resort at will call, we were told they had no record of Atlantica Resort purchasing any tickets. The concert ticket agent was sweet and offered to call the Atlantica Resort to see if there was a mistake. After making several calls to the Atlantica Resort the only answer she received was the same we received, “the resort manager was not on premises”. Two days later we checked back with the ticket agent and she informed us that we weren’t the only couple who got taken by the Atlantica Oceanfront Resort. No tickets were ever provided AVOID the ATLANTICA...
