Hanging out down at Broadway at the Beach and as typical my ladies are going back and forth for about 30 minutes about where to eat! My lady is a pescatarian, my oldest daughter doesn't eat beef or pork, and my youngest is just picky! So how in the world did we end up at a Japanese steakhouse?? The ambiance caught all of their eye, and I got a phone call. Yes, I had a phone call because Daddy was hangry and went to find a seat before I started chewing my fingers! We walked in, were seated, and were immediately joined by a party of 7 out on a bachelor party weekend. This place was hopping, to say the least. All of the chefs were fully engaged in cooking for the guests at their stations. Irasshaimase! Irasshaimase! Irasshaimase! All I could do was laugh because I immediately thought of the Curb Your Enthusiasm episode where Larry David was at war with Japanese chef's at one steakhouse because they yelled Irasshaimase! and scared the hell out of him (season 11, elisode 5)! Irasshaimase. was all you could hear, and you could feel the heat from the flaming introductions at every table! Our waitress was nice, but you could tell it was getting towards the end of her day. She looked tired but continued to engage our table. We started out with clear soup! We learned after the fact that it is made with chicken broth, well my wife survived, LOL! From there, we started with some lightly fried calamari, my youngest daughter's favorite appetizer. Then we opened up with some sushi rolls, one with fish eggs, for my oldest daughter. The calamari was very good and even better after squeezing a little lemon over it. The sushi I can only assume was excellent because the ladies devoured it, and I didn't get a chance to taste any...lol! Now was showtime as our chef arrived to start making the fried rice. My wife forgot there were eggs in the rice as he was doing tricks to crack the shells... yeah, she'll survive..lol! Nice selection of fresh vegetables in the fried rice, but it was a little clumpy. I ordered the sirloin, shrimp, and scallops. The sirloin came out first, and halfway through, I realized I needed to pace myself and wait for the rest of the food!!! The steak was medium well, and it was very flavorful and tender. The shrimp was a little overcooked but still full of flavor. Finally, the scalloped, ot marshmallows as our chef called them, were done just right with a nice sear on each side. I definitely ended up taking a nice portion home because I was stuffed!! The sorbet at the end was a really nice touch. It's not heavy and easy going down after that massive meal! We had a really good time and the one thing to be aware of... there were about 15 birthday celebrations, so be prepared to sing Happy Birthday several times along with the gongs from the waniguchi!

Not impressed with this experience and the cost was totally high. 3ppl was over $200!! We went upon opening for the early bird dinner- they advertise it but do not actually have it. Guess it gets people in the door - switch and bait tactics- then it's full price only. They charged us an extra $6 - for a just turned 2 yr old who was eating off our plate. AS A SPLIT THE PLATE CHARGE. If the child was older I could see why , but a 2 yr old. What the heck- the kid didn't even get her own plate and had water. So not small kid friendly/ family friendly at all. The steak, filet mignon, tasted cheap and not cooked properly , the chicken was over cooked and dry. The best part of the meal was the stupid jokes and flames the table chef was performing. We could have gone to Pirates or Medieval Times, seen the show and got better food for cheaper and not charge for a 2yr old. I can not Recommend this unless you just want bad food at an upsettingly over priced rate. I don't know it it's bc it's in Broadway and caters to tourists mostly. We won't go here again EVER

I have not eaten Japanese food in a few years. Big mistake. My cousin, myself and my boss met up here at Broadway at the Beach to try out Yamato Japanese Steakhouse and it was one of the best Asian food related decisions that I have made in a long time, lol. Even though it looked like it would be a long wait for us (because there were a lot of people in the waiting area), we were seated before we could finish up our drinks that we had just ordered from the bar. This was less than a ten minute wait. The drinks were fantastic, the once strangers that dined alongside us at the table seemed like friends we had known forever within minutes. The chef was humorous and very talented with his cooking skills, giving you a show that you will never forget. He served each and every one of us, one by one to our specific order with spot on accuracy. Above and beyond generous portions. I had the filet, shrimp and scallops. Will be back soon, p.s. prices are not ridiculously expensive either. Enjoy!

Girls at the check in desk were the rudest people I’ve ever dealt with at a restaurant. Then when asked to see a manager, she doubled down and was worse. Made reservations a few days in advance. Left our beach house to get there 15-20 minutes early of our check in time. There was a major accident on highway 17, so bad that the road was closed. All traffic was rerouted and backed up. Called 4 different times to try and let them know we would be late because of a road closure. Finally on the 5th call, the front desk answered the phone with “hey”, very unprofessional, but then proceeded to let them know our situation. She said, well your reservation gets canceled 15 mins on the dot after your initial reservation time. Finally rush through traffic and walking in the door at the exact last min. There was a line to get to the counter. By the time we got up, it was 3 MINUTES after the 15 min late time. Was told that’s just the way our system works and there’s nothing I can do. I again explained the situation as to why we were “late” and was just told it is what it is. At this point I asked to see a manager. Told her the situation and she said well that’s just the way our system works and it’s not my our issue that there was an accident. I get restaurants are busy this time of year but for 3 minutes you couldn’t be accommodating!? I’m not an unreasonable person, and we wanted to call to let them know what was going on and all around just very rude staff up front. Then as we’re walking out the door the manager says in a loud condescending way, “have a great night”. We came back because our chef from last year was really great and the food was pretty good. No way would I ever step foot in this...

Our family visited Yamato's July 9, 2024 to celebrate our daughters 35th birthday. We had a large party so we were divided into 2 parties. The first 6 were seated at 4pm and our other party, 8 people, was seated at 4:15. Our 9 year autistic granddaughter was in the 2nd group. She was restless and loud while waiting, and the hostess' facial expressions were not welcoming. They were extremely unfriendly. We were sat at our table and the children were very excited to be a part of the entertainment! Our waitress was less than enthusiastic to serve us as she stated, "I just got here and I already want to go home." Due to our granddaughter's limited dietary preferences, there wasn't anything on the menu for her to eat. Generally, she will eat noodles and chicken at a Japanese restaurant, which she loudly exclaimed, "Daddy, ramen and chicken!" This restaurant does not offer noodles on the menu, so her mother purchased food elsewhere and brought it to the table. The manager quickly came over and stated the health department does not allow outside food to be brought in due to possibility of cross contamination. We have no problem abiding by these rules. However, the attitude of the manager and everyone that we encountered, was extremely unkind and unprofessional. My son, daughter in law and granddaughter was asked to leave. The manager's reason being my granddaughter could not eat the outside food. However, the table next to our other parties table had food brought in in a plastic container! The child ate it and no one asked them to leave! Families with special needs children should carefully consider their choice before choosing...
