I got a cheddar, mushroom and pepper omelette with hash browns and was most pleased; it all tasted like something mom would make. 🧂 Ambience is hard-core local in a wonderful way; Sam & Omie’s has been here forever and when you’re a community fixture, you gather things. Memories. Poems written by locals, lovingly, about the staff. Pictures of seafaring conquests and lifelong friends. Those sorts of things. 🧂 I’ve read reviews claiming the service was bad here. I don’t believe them. Sure, even the very best of staff can have the very worst of days. That’s just how life goes. But I think a more likely explanation can be found in the adage, “The vibes you put off are the vibes you get back.” 🧂 I saw an old white-bearded gentleman come in and take a seat at the bar. The barkeep called him by name, saying he was a little late today. I don’t know what he’d been through, I suppose it could be most anything, but I watched every single member of the staff speak to him and love on him in various ways. It was obvious he wasn’t just a customer, he was family. 🧂 We have lost our way as a country; so much anger, so much hate, so much name-calling and demonizing and violence. How much better would America be if we all had our own Sam & Omie's, where faults were forgotten, differences overlooked, and we were loved through the rough spots?

Don't let anyone fool you, Sam and Omie's is a true authentic Nags Head Seafood Dinner with excellent and reasonably priced meals. They have been around since the late 30's and takes one back to a more friendly peaceful time. We love the OBC, and love the casual beach feel. We stop here at least once a trip because it is a taste of memories gone by. Which we cherish. The wait staff is always friendly and attentive. The foods served are excellent and the price is right. We've never had a long wait to be served. But during peak times, obviously you can expect a bit of a wait to get seated. They serve fresh seafood. The shrimp pops when you bite into it. The Fish cooked to perfection and always a good variety of seafood offered. The crab cakes are huge and the portions are generous. The large house salad with fried shrimp is my favorite while my husband enjoys the fresh tuna steaks. The coleslaw slaw and cornbread are just as good. If you enjoy desserts, the desserts are made fresh by a local baker. They are equally delicious. We hope that Sam and Omie's never remodel as we love looking at the fishing photos and walking on the plank floors. Enjoy!

Very casual and great food! Staff was friendly and the manager lady said "later tater tot" after I got my late night to go order lol😆She was funny, I liked her. 🙂Don't ask for to go orders when busy or late night! LoL just kidding. I'm 1 for 2 on that but she obliged😊 Sitting by the window and looking at the pier is a pleasant view. I had the broiled Flounder dinner to go late-night, which was cooked perfect! Green beans seasoned just right, corn bread light n fluffy. Came back for the soup and flounder sandwich, which was a yummy mid day treat. I got a flat tire right as I pulled out the parking lot onto the main road, so I'm glad I enjoyed a nice lunch 1st! If you like to stroll the pier, add Sam & Omies to your routine when you're "down that way." 🙂🍤🥣🐟🍔🍰 It's a good place to stop in, Good folks, Good food! 👍😎🌊 Coming back next trip down. Reminded me of small town Florida restaurant. Glad they have been a long time staple where the road forks 🍴 A good reason to stop in. Turn Left? Turn right? 🛑Stop at Sam&Omies!🙂

I wouldn’t know how the food tastes to leave a review for that. I can however speak on the service I received, absolutely horrible! This incident happened in March of 2024.

I am a local. The ONE and ONLY time I have ever stepped foot in this establishment, along with my children. I was completely disrespected by the staff at the counter with the register. I worked at Owens restaurant, their full time breakfast staff and I pulled doubles regularly. I lived walking distance from Sam and Omies and Owens. Well, my one day off, I decide to take my children to Sam and Omies instead of Owens. That was my first mistake. We showed up around 11am, I asked the woman if we could order any breakfast to go, she flat out tells me “No. It is after breakfast and we don’t do that.” I understand breakfast is no longer being served after a specific time, but you are responsible for how you relay that information. You should always stay professional and kind. So, I said “okay…… could I see the menu and order something to go?” Being they had close to a full restaurant and since I work in the industry, I decided it would be easier for all to get our food to go, sit outside, eat and leave a fat tip! So I asked for the menu to look over to order some food to go, right? She then tells me “I’m not going to put in any to go orders for you, you can go ask another staff member and see if they will.” I was SO baffled, I walked outside to contain myself, being Sam and Omies and Owens are close. I didn’t want to become unprofessional myself and have a situation follow me to my own restaurant. Well, my oldest child tells me she couldn’t believe what just happened and how that woman spoke to me, my 10 year old daughter says this to me. Absolutely disgusted by the entire situation! I went back inside, practically threw that menu at that woman and LEFT. I chose to maintain my self respect and professionalism by not saying a single word to her and walking straight to my restaurant to feed myself and my children! The verbatim is something I won’t share exactly because she was way ruder than I let off in this review, out of respect for anyone whom may be reading this. Certain language is unnecessary. She needs fired, simple. It has been several folks having issues with this ONE staff member for close to a year now that I know of. As a business owner, I’d never allow any of my staff to talk to a customer in any ill way. Your customers are who keep your business going. No customers, no work! I had my issues at Owens restaurant with my bosses but I NEVER got treated like THIS. I seriously couldn’t believe the audacity of this woman! I never share reviews like this, I feel people weed themselves out by showing how they act, quite simple but after hearing so much about this same woman for close to a year now, I had to share my experience in hopes that it will change for the next group of people to give this place a chance! I was SO disappointed because I had heard nothing but lovely things while working at Owens so I had to check it out myself and the experience was totally ruined! I work hard for my money and I will not waste it on a place that allows employees to act this way. It does not matter how busy you are, stay professional and courteous. I know all too well how trying folks can be in the restaurant atmosphere, but it is up to us as the staff to keep a smile on our face and ensure things run smoothly! I will give this place another try in another year or two, I’m hopeful she will be long gone by then and maybe then my family and I will be able to try this place out the right way and leave an honest review based on all aspects of our experience! As of right now, however, my review is posted strictly based on the interaction I had with this one staff member because as stated, we were unable to even...

This was the worst restaurant experience. My husband went in to get our names on the list. They had a seat available. We informed the person at the desk that all of our party was not there, but would be in around 10 minutes. They said that was fine and seated us. The rest of our party was there within 15 minutes. While waiting to order, my two year old got choked and ended up throwing up in her high chair. This was not caused by the restaurant. We immediately began cleaning everything up. When the waitress came back to our table, I held one of the menu’s and let her know that the menu had gotten some vomit on it. I told her I cleaned it with baby wipes as much as I could, but that they may want to sanitize it. The waitress immediately began asking, not in a caring way, if our two year old was sick. I had to keep saying that she got choked and that’s why she threw up. Nearing the end of our meal, we were watched to see when we finished eating. Upon finishing and declining dessert, someone immediately came and very rudely had us essentially bus our own table. We had to give them all the plates, baskets, butter bowl, etc. on our table. He kept asking for my son’s plate and I had to tell him multiple times that he was still eating. Then the same person brought the check. He came back just a couple of minutes later to ask if we were going to pay at the table or go to the register and gave the impression that we needed to do one or the other. He then came back and took all of our drink cups. This was all within 10 minutes of finishing our meal, and while my son was finishing his food. We were trying to be mindful of our time there and people waiting. We did that from the beginning when we made it clear that all of our party was not there. I expressed my concerns to this person and the response was not apologetic. Basically I was told that they needed the table and for us to leave. We had to ask for refills and some of us never received any. It felt as though the waitress avoided our table due to our toddler throwing up. We have been to this restaurant in the past, and it was ok. The food was ok, but nothing to brag about. Service was horrible. I have never felt as unwelcome or embarrassed in a restaurant as tonight. We will not be going back to this restaurant, ever. Service means a lot, and everyone should be treated respectfully. We tried very hard to be respectful of their time and people waiting for a seat. I expect the...

This place came highly recommended so we thought we'd give it a try. It was our last night of our vacation so we wanted to choose someplace special and close by our house.

It was a bit busy, I gave our name to the hostess and we waited on the porch. After watching her come out and yell someone's name, she didn't bother to notice the elderly couple, him with a walker, might need the door held open. The elderly wife held the door as he shuffled in. Maybe I should have jumped up to help, but was stunned at this hostess not caring. More time passed, our name was bellowed out and sure enough she let the door slam in front of me before I could grab the handle. So, we got in and we followed her as you normally do when a hostess is seating you. She said, "hey it's that table over there!" Where? We didn't see she'd tossed our menus and silverware onto a big round table that could easily seat 8. We were a party of just 3. It was right beside that slamming door and under a high speed ceiling fan. This is the point where I wish we had left. But I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt...let's just order. As we waited for our dinner, parties of 8 or so had no place to sit because we were at the big table. We got looks of "why are you sitting at the big table?" Our waitress was very kind and courteous, probably because she knew at those prices, she was getting a huge tip...which she did. We looked at our menus and were shocked at the high prices! 3 of us...one child...basic meals, tea, lemonade...over $100! Seemed like the bar was full of locals and blow hards talking bad about our home state. A football game was on that we were happy about, but felt we needed to go before we heard anymore bad talk about our hometown. That has nothing to do with the place...but just added to the vibe that we did NOT belong here and we just wanted to leave as fast as possible. The food was ok...but we paid over twice what it was worth. I knew we should have gone to Fish Heads Pier instead. Wish we had. I'll never go back to this place and I've told others about that rude hostess. I used to be a hostess....all you really need to be is nice, polite, helpful to those who need it. She needs to go...
