Unfortunately, our experience here left a lot to be desired.
Seating: The layout is tight, and the staff split a four-top into two two-tops, placing us just inches away from the next couple. When we politely asked to be moved to one of several empty tables, the hostess gave us attitude instead of assistance.
Service: The waitstaff was surprisingly unprofessional. Our server walked away mid-order to take another table’s order without explanation. When I tried to let him know we weren’t finished ordering, he held up two fingers as if to say “wait,” then didn’t return for another 10 minutes—and never offered an apology.
Wine Pour: We ordered two glasses of wine and immediately noticed something was off with the pours (pictured below). Watching other guests receive significantly more generous pours confirmed it—our glasses were half what others received. It felt like we were being shortchanged.
Food: We coursed out our meal, starting with the stuffed fried zucchini flowers. While the dish was flavorful, one of the three flowers had no filling—which is disappointing at $17. Our final course, a pasta dish, never arrived until the food runner asked (twice) if we were missing a pasta. Meanwhile, our server seemed more focused on venting to a coworker than checking on guests.
The food itself was good, but the experience overall was frustrating—from the seating and staff behavior to inconsistencies in service. Sadly, we won’t...
Read moreWe finally had an opportunity to try out this new restaurant downtown and unfortunately the experience was disappointing. First, we arrived and sat down at a really wonderfully renovated space. The colors and the vibe were really warm and inviting. They had used some really nice tan colors for most of the restaurant decor with a splash of color throughout. I especially liked the use of the small potted herbs at each table. Very nice touch! But then we sat and waited about 10 to 15 minutes until anyone approached us. It was awkward because they had the staff but just seemed indifferent to the fact that we were sitting there without being asked for drink orders or appetizers. A waitress came over and asked if we had been helped and we said no. She was very apologetic and took our drink order. Then finally our waiter came over and did apologize but we still wondered what was going on since he was around our table and just never came over and it wasn't busy. At times it felt like my husband and I were being ignored. He did apologize and proceeded to take our orders and serve us. Now the good news! The food was amazing. We enjoyed the pork meatballs that were just delicious in a wonderful tomato sauce. The mushroom pizza was cooked perfectly and the arugula salad was tasty. I would give the food 5 stars but with the service I had to land on a 3 stars. Hope...
Read moreFrom the moment my wife and I were greeted at the new A16 in Napa, we knew we were in for a special evening. The managers and hosts were so warm and welcoming, and immediately wished my wife a happy birthday. From the elegant decor to the wonderful staff, everything felt so inviting.. we were transported.
We started with the squash blossoms, which arrived crisp and bursting with flavor. Next, perfectly tender octopus with tapenade. For the main course, we ordered the wild salmon with dragoncello sauce and the squid ink tonnarelli. Both were absolutely divine. For dessert, blueberry sorbet that tasted like it was literally made to order.
What truly set this experience apart, however, was the service. The entire team struck the perfect balance between professional and personable, offering thoughtful suggestions and genuine conversation. They anticipated our needs without hovering and made us feel like honored guests from start to finish.
A16 Napa is a gem. It’s rare to find a place where food, service, and atmosphere come together in such harmony. We can’t wait to return, and next time, we’re...
