What a place.... our first trip to Nashville, and I can't believe we found such a hidden gem. We spent a night or two downtown with all the flashy lights and had a good time. We stumbled onto Bobby's by chance as it was only a block from our Air BnB. We walked in and immediately felt at home. It truly felt like that home town midwest watering hole where everyone knew everyone from the moment you walked in. There's not a super complex menu, but that's what makes this place special. You got your choices of beers, some popcorn, and of course if you feel fancy some market price Vienna Sausage's.
The truth is, it's the people that make this bar. Josh and his staff are all simply amazing and good people. They introduced us to several local artists and some amazing music even if we had to go to another bar to hear them. Every day during our trip throughout the day, one of the four of us could be heard talking about how Josh said something about that, or is it time to go back and see Josh yet? It is a fun relaxing bar where you can catch up with new and old friends alike. AND see some of what Nashville is supposed to be shine through.
We can't wait to go back and see Josh and the crew soon! Next time, I'll try and take some pictures. This time, I was truly...
Read moreThis was an absolutely AWFUL experience. I don’t write reviews often but this was BAD!!!!! I am still recoiling! Seriously.
The manager (who when I asked to talk to the manager said he was the “owner”) was absolutely hateful & rude beyond comparison to anyone I have met in the restaurant industry (& I worked in the restaurant industry for 15+years). I asked for a white wine and my niece asked for a Moscow mule & he threw the menu at us and said “this is what we serve”.
He treated us like second rate citizens. It was totally uncalled for. I asked if he was being so rude because I asked for white wine and he said “yes”. I reeled back in shock…my money is still good here…..
My husband asked for a Budweiser (& has been drinking it since we have been in Nashville for 2 days), but when we asked other patrons why the bartender (owner??) would have treated us so poorly, they said it was possibly since it’s LGBT commercial controversy. Sad. I wish I could recoup my hundreds of dollars of $ we spent there tonight.
FYI- The said so proclaimed owner is on the shorter side & has a weird short mullet under his baseball cap.
I would NOT Recommend going there if you actually like southern manners or good...
Read moreOld school dive bar where you can find amazing musicians playing almost every night. Bobby's is one of the last remnants of what Nashville bars were before country music celebrities bought up everything on Broadway. The atmosphere is relaxed, the beer (and it's just beer) is cold and the bartenders are friendly. Weeknights are not too busy so you can strike up a good conversation. Weekends might be a bit more of a jam session vibe. Bring a dollar to put on the wall, but they do accept cards now. Prices are affordable especially for this area of town. Food comes out of a microwave and the best thing on the menu is probably the bag of popcorn. Drink selection is a mix of 12 oz and 16 oz domestics some white claws and maybe a craft beer or two all in cans or bottles. This is in no way a brewpub or craft beer on draft type of place. Visit for the throwback vibes and top notch...
