I was really excited to try this place out, but it ended up being a total bust! It's located in the Courtyard Hotel downtown. I didn't know this before booking reservations for my boyfriend's birthday. We were greeted and sat immediately upon arriving. Unfortunately , we sat next to some guy who seemed to either be a regular or work there and his guest. The staff spent an absurd amount of time at their table. Everyone from the cook, to servers, to managers just hung out at this table next to us our entire visit. The one guy in particular was excessively loud, like in the "in a big shot," kinda way, cussing, giving the bird to the table to our left, who he seemed to know as well. Drinks were good. Food was just okay. I started with the lobster bisque. That's not what I expected at all. It was lobster flavored soup with some kind of cream. One spoonful, and it was an instant no. The soup was lukewarm at best, and there was no actual lobster in the soup. The obnoxious table next to us had the same consensus. We each had a caeser salad. For $13/salad, I've had better from a chain restaurant. The lettuce was warm, there was a little (probably from) a bag shredded parmesean cheese sprinkled on it, and some thick, cheap, store bought tasting dressing on it. For my entree, I got the Louisiana BBQ Shrimp pasta. I maybe took 5 bites and was done. It was basically shrimp alfredo with an entire bottle of Cajun seasoning over it. Super rich, super salty, not good at all. My boyfriend got the ribeye and a side of creamed spinach. His ribeye was 1/2 fat and half edible steak. Although he liked the flavor, he was disappointed in how much fat was on it, even for a ribeye. The creamed spinach was okay, but nothing special. The highlight of the night and the meal was our server, bringing my boyfriend a slice of chocolate cake to celebrate his birthday! Overall we could of had a much better $200 meal somewhere else with a much...
Read moreThe food was ok. I wouldn't say it's anything significant for the price you pay for it. I ordered a Manhattan that was warm and half a glass, on top of that the glass was served to me sticky and sloppy ($18) no thanks. When ordering dinner the waiter informed us the truffle Fry's were out and not available however we continued to see them being served for the next 1.5 hours we waited for our dinner. The couple that joined us ordered a double cut pork chop which will add an additional 20 minutes to your wait for your order. We were not told that upon ordering. The pork chop was raw inside and burnt on the outside which is clear they rushed the order and never cooked our dinner properly. My steak was ordered medium and it was medium well ($45) to be wrong. It was disappointing to say the Least. My wife ordered a side of risotto it was sticky and over cooked and over priced for a side that is not done correctly. I will pay for good food done correctly but come on you can't charge your prices for what is being served.
After 1.5 hours the manager came to our table and said he was taking care of our dinner but we still paid for 3 drinks and our appetizer which was roughly $90 for 2 just ok drinks and an ok app. We sat at our table finished with dinner and waited another 15-20 minutes before we asked if we could get our check. We arrived at 7:30pm and left roughly 10:30pm
When you visit the website they offer validation for parking at a specific garage. However, it is really just a $12 discount and you still pay $8 to park. No biggie but dont say your validating parking if you don't.
Nashville has a lot of great restaurants this one needs...
Read moreGannons was the best dining experience my wife and I have ever had! My wife and I had just arrived in Nashville and not knowing where we were going looked up restaurants in the area and found that Gannons had good reviews. Since it was our first day we decided just to go for the happy hour. Besides ordering a couple of drinks we ordered the raw oysters. We happened to be sitting at the bar in the area where Chef Gannon Leary prepared them. He was so friendly and shared his story, introduced us to his partner Dave, and told us some places to visit. We had a great time and were impressed. I accidentally left my hat and Gannon chased me down a block down printer's alley to get it to me. We decided then that we would return for dinner a few days later. So happy we did! We did a repeat of happy hour, we had the double-cut pork chop, tried the prime rib, and had the lobster bisque. Oh my! Everything was out of this world! I would consider it a crime to visit Nashville and not get that double-cut pork chop. We also enjoyed a raspberry cheesecake and some creme brulee, both were fantastic. If you have to pick one, the creme brulee is unforgettable! During our entire experience both of the owners Gannon and Dave made sure were not only well taken care of but that we had a great time! They have to be the two hardest-working men in the restaurant business! On top of that how refreshing after visiting the high-octane environments, crowds, and volume on Broadway to enjoy a place with a relaxing live piano in the background and with just the right amount of lighting and beautiful architecture. Gannons is not...
