A Hidden Gem in Nashville – Not Just Bar Food!
While visiting Nashville, I found myself struggling to find dinner options that didn’t include chicken or beef. After what felt like an exhausting search, we landed at this spot—honestly, it felt like a last resort. From the outside, it looked like a small bar that just happened to serve food, and I wasn’t particularly excited for what I assumed would be mediocre bar fare on my vacation.
But wow, was I wrong.
What I thought would be a forgettable meal turned out to be one of the best dining experiences of our trip. This isn’t bar food—it’s a true scratch kitchen with a full bar. Everything on the menu is made fresh, from the dishes themselves to the spices, which they grind in-house. The attention to detail in the food is undeniable.
We ordered the fish and chips and the vegetarian shepherd’s pie. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The fish was juicy and perfectly fried—not at all greasy—and the vegetarian shepherd’s pie was surprisingly rich, hearty, and full of flavor. It’s rare to find a vegetarian dish with that much depth.
The service made the experience even better. Our server, Josh, was incredibly attentive and welcoming—he made us feel like we were the only table in the place. It really elevated the whole evening.
And let’s not forget the cocktails—craft-level quality, well-balanced, and a great complement to the meal.
What started as a reluctant choice turned into a dining highlight. If you’re visiting Nashville and looking for fresh, thoughtfully prepared food—especially if you’re avoiding beef or chicken—make this your first stop, not your...
Read moreI have gone back and forth on how many stars to rate the Fleet Street Pub. We search out Irish pubs in any city we're in. We read the reviews and were looking forward to going to this pub. It's a basement pub and compared to being on Broadway for most of the day, it was a welcome respite from all the craziness of that scene. There were seats at the bar, so we sat down. We were greeted by the bartender, Sara, who was extremely friendly and attentive. She took our drink orders, brought our drinks and answered our questions about items on the menu. My husband ordered the Shepard's Pie and I ordered Bangers and Mash. So far it's been a five star visit. Then the food is brought to us. The first thing I see on my plate is a hair, partially on the food, partially on the plate (I hadn't even moved the plate from where he set it down). I got the bartender's attention who brought it out and he came back over. I pointed it out and he immediately took it away and said they would make me a new one. They did and the food was good (although the thought of that hair was in the back of my mind while I was eating). When the bill came (this is where my surprise came), they didn't even comp us a drink on the bill. I could understand not comping my entire meal, but I thought a drink would have been an appropriate gesture. (Footnote: Sara's tip wasn't based on the hair in the food, because that was the appropriate...
Read moreI have been a fan and proponent, of Fleet Street Pub since I was introduced to it 3 years ago. I have given them rave reviews on Google, Yelp and Facebook about the atmosphere, food and service, but tonight they messed up. Arrived at 5:10pm and had my order promptly taken by my server, consisting of a drink and fish/chips. At 6pm she came to the table and asked if I wanted her to transfer service over to the next server or would I like to settle the bill with her which I paid for and tipped over 20%. Now, mind you, my food hasn’t arrived yet. At 6:20pm I got up, went to the cash register and asked my server about my order. She stated she had brought my 3rd drinks. I asked,,,,,what about my food order,,,,, which she had totally forgotten about and didn’t place. This is completely a terrible situation. I guess I’m mostly upset that no one came to me to explain the mess up, apologize or tell me what their next move was. I went to the restroom, came back to my table to find it cleared. The new server came over to the table and stated he thought I had left. It’s now 6:45 and we are starting all over. New beverage, new order for the fish and chips and new server. Order delivered at 7:00pm and then the bill. No comp, no reason and no apology. Whom ever owns this establishment needs to take charge. Needless to say, as much as I like the food, this old boy won’t be...
