First time visiting this location and I sincerely enjoyed myself. I’m only giving an honest review based on my first encounter with this location. I entered and saw a line of people and that is to be expected on a weekday during lunch hour. The lady that helped me was kinda and gave great suggestions while answering my few questions. I adored the atmosphere and the experience the environment was giving. I sat outside to enjoy some sun with a juicy pomegranate frozen margarita. Received my food to only notice I had chicken instead of veggies. I’m on a serious health kick and can get ahead of myself if I just let it go. So in this instance my health counted on it. Womp Womp I know. I continued to come back inside, but this time with the taco salad I created and my belongings in my hand. I informed the young woman from my earlier checkout of the mishap. Not to mentioned their was now a new line and I had walked in front of at least 5 people and bumped 1. Yikes! She takes my plate and apologizes which I accept and make my way outside back to my seat. At this point I have a great frozen margarita to sip on and the weather is beautiful. My new meal comes out and this time the toppings from people are missing. sigh not again... I tell the lady of the issue and attempt to make sense of what’s happening in case she didn’t already know. Anyways! 3rd times the charm because the salad finally arrived the way I ordered it originally. Felt myself getting hangry every second and even defeated almost but alas my taco salad arrived. I wish they would have done something to try to repair the broken experience but at least the food...
Read moreIt’s the day before Thanksgiving, so the place was pretty dead. Not sure how it is on a regular night. I ordered the Big Client, and compared to a lot of other fast casual Mexican food establishments I felt there was a lot of value added since it comes with a side and chips. One thing that I gathered is who ever created this menu has never been to Mexico, maybe hasn’t even been to Texas. If you aren’t familiar with Mexican or Tex-mex, than this food is excellent. It has generous portions, and a good flavor. Now, with that being said, since it is supposed to be Latin inspired, I was shocked at how Italian it all tasted. The quesadilla had mozzarella cheese, oregano in street corn, and the braised beef tasted like it was missing the Italian wedding soup. They’ve got this odd fusion that takes it so far off Tex mex that I don’t think it’s fair to not credit the Italian inspiration somewhere. The salsa was very mild, like essence of jalapeño mild. They do advertise the salsa as mild, but it almost isn’t fair calling it salsa. Perhaps a mild tomato blend. The food is not that bad, but the food is not that...
Read moreOne of Nashville's hidden gems. I am still surprised it took me around 10 months of living here before going into this place. Taco Mama does an outstanding job with their customer service. The cashiers are extremely attentive and move very quickly without sacrificing their friendliness and willingness to help should you have questions. The menu is diverse but also gives you the option to create your own anything - which is what I did.
I created my own quesadilla with steak and added a boatload of their FREE fresh sides. All of their create their owns come with chips and salsa PLUS an additional side and range from $8-11.
The salsa was extremely fresh and had a nice little kick. The guac had a ton of fresh lime juice and was plain (how I like it). The only knock (and it is a very small one) is that they could put more of everything (toppings, meat, rice) in their dishes. That being said, this is an incredible value and I will be going here over Chipotle and the dreaded awful Freebirds world burrito (awful). Good work taco mama! See...
