Do not visit Tailgate Brewery!!!
Worst bar experience ever! Unhinged manager creates a scene, refuses to correct a billing error, then snaps on patrons of color, and forces them to pay twice as much.
Before I share my experience, I would first like to begin by saying: For what it’s worth, the Tailgate Brewery had great food. Friendly bartenders and hard-working wait staff!
On 10/28/23 I visited Tailgate Brewery Music Row and thoroughly enjoyed our experience until the bill came. Based on the beer & shot special during happy hour, our bill should have been around $60 and we were charged $120. We paid the bill to avoid creating a scene and being made to feel problematic. After doing so, I decided to calmly discuss this discrepancy with the manager, hoping it would be rectified and credited.
Therefore, I asked to speak to the manager and explained the bartender's acknowledgment of the billing error that led to the overcharge. However, when trying to advocate on my behalf, the manager got super aggressive and abruptly stopped in an unhinged fashion and accused me of making her feel unsafe. How? I have no clue, but then began telling me that if the regional manager were there, they would have me thrown out. Again, I ask for what? Despite the manager's aggressive and condescending tone throughout the exchange, I wasn't rude or disrespectful. I have never in my entire life been treated like this in any establishment. I was speechless and honestly just wanted the exchange to end, so I asked for my credit card back and walked back to my seat.
Then, this unhinged manager came out to our table to continue the tongue-lashing and speak to the only table of color in the restaurant as if we were children. She was looking for a response to validate her accusation of “unsafety,” and all she found was silence. She then asked us if we all closed out, which we had, and then stormed off.
An individual like this should not be in a managerial position or near customers at all for that matter. As long as she works in this establishment, I recommend you stay away. I felt less than human and was forced to pay twice as much as I should have, even though my bartender acknowledged the confusion and just needed his manager's approval to rectify the bill. This was an abuse of power and “privilege,” and I recommend you stay away from this establishment if you don’t wish to have a...
Read moreIf you’re craving disappointment served with a side of indifference you've found it. I don’t usually leave scathing reviews, but TailGate Brewery Music Row earned this one with flying colors — or rather, with cold pizza and some of the worst service I’ve encountered in Nashville.
Let’s start with the wait. We waited an unreasonable amount of time for just 1 pizza to be served for a table of 6, and when a server finally came around, it felt like we were an inconvenience rather than paying customers. Basic hospitality was nowhere to be found — no greeting, no update for others waiting, no sense of urgency. Each person had to wait 10 minutes from the last pizza served; except for me I had to ask for my pizza. And at this point everyone at the table had nearly finished their pizzas.
When my pizza eventually arrived, it was a complete joke. The pizza — was barely warm, with a limp crust that was more sponge than dough. The toppings tasted like they’d been sitting out since lunch rush. If you’re going to charge $18+ for a pie, at least make sure it doesn’t resemble something microwaved in a dorm room. I mention it to the server but why... as the response was "the pan is not hot, but the pizza will be". Really? An absolute lie, if I had not been starving and not having the energy to even walk to another restaurant I would have asked for a complete refund and promptly exited.
And the customer service? Completely indifferent. Not once did a manager stop by, check in, or make any effort to recover the experience. It was clear they’re banking on tourists and the Music Row address, not repeat customers or quality.
TailGate Brewery might have a decent location, but that’s about all it has going for it. If you’re looking for a good time, great pizza, or even just competent service — keep walking. There are plenty of other spots in Nashville that actually care about what they’re serving and how they treat...
Read moreFinding TailGate was a happy accident. We planned to have pizza at a nearby place I won't name (they were closed during advertised hours). ANYWAY... Since we were all now determined to get pizza, we walked a little up the hill on Demonbreun Street until we got to TailGate. There is an extensive craft beer menu, along with a build your own pizza option (and other menu items).
On a Saturday afternoon, we had a helpful server named Austin. I ordered a small (personal, 4 slice) pizza with jalapeños and red onions and asked him to surprise me with whatever was closest to Guinness (the only Stout on the menu was said to have notes of peanut butter, and that was not haopening). Well... the pizza was delicious - I don't know what's in the sauce, but it made me very happy and our entire group of difficult-to-please ladies was satisfied with their pizzas. I ended up with a lager that tasted nothing like Guiness (and not quite as heavy), but I enjoyed it and would order again. I believe it was called Marzen.
Some of our group ordered (and enjoyed) a slushy vodka lemonade.
Although it is quite loud inside (and there is an outdoor area) and there were several football games on when we visited, we were still able to have conversations at a decent level.
We all enjoyed our food and beverages so much that we returned the next day for a late lunch. We had a different server whose name I cannot recall and is not on the receipt.
A few notes: -they do have root beer! -the bathrooms are decent -a little bit up the hill, and around the corner, there is a large dumpster bin that has a lovely Dolly Parton mural spray painted on it. I know it's a dumpster, but grab yourself a photo if you're in the area....
