Was visiting Nashville for the weekend and was looking for a Black owned breakfast spot to patronize. The young lady at the hotel recommended Roasted Salemtown. Decided to give it a try. When we walked in, I observed pople sitting and standing in every available inch of the restaurant waiting for a table. There's a very narrow, short walkway when you enter the restaurant and people were literally lined up and sitting on the ledge of the entrance as well. I'm sure that has to be a code violation of some sort, or at the very least a fire hazard. We had a ridiculously long wait time; was told by the hostess (who was wearing house shoes btw) that the wait time was one and a half hours. Ours ended up being more than two hours. To add injury to insult, when we were finally seated, we had to "share" a table with two strangers, who were seated at the same time as us, although they had JUST walked in and we had waited for over two hours. I guess your wait time somewhat depends on who you know at the restaurant as well. Our waitress hugged the young lady who was seated at the table with us and I heard the young lady refer to the waitress as her "friend". Then the young lady at our shared table and the gentleman with her, ordered a round of shots. Didn't think anything about it until our waitress came to our table to take one of those shots with her "friend". My friend and I also witnessed a couple of waitresses (not ours) stop mid track to twerk (yes, I said twerk) with and on patrons. Another customer had an impromptu twerk session that would rival any stripper's. All while the customers and restaurant staff cheered her on like she was competing at the Olympics.
I had to ask our waitress how much longer before we would receive our food, which she graciously checked on for us AFTER she took her shot with her friends. Food finally arrived. My steak was extremely tough and not very flavorful at all, with a slither of onions on top. My friend and I both agreed that the dirty rice also lacked flavor and in some spots was dry and overcooked. The BEST thing I had were the brussel sprouts. They had a great flavor and were perfectly roasted. I did taste one of my friend's honey chicken wings, which were really good.
To say that we literally couldn't get out of there fast enough was an understatement. Basically, if you're between the ages of eighteen to twenty something, enjoy excessive, unnecessarily long wait times, loud, offensive music WITH profanity, to watch live twerk shows by wait staff and patrons alike and mediocre food, then this is the place for you! For those of us who are looking for a more mature and classy dining experience along with some great food, GO ELSEWHERE; THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR US!!! Unfortunately, I didn't see a previous review that warned me of what to expect until after my dining experience had happened already.
Also, I definitely understand why the wait times are so long. I observed many of the same patrons who were seated when I put my name on the wait list STILL sitting at tables as we were leaving which equals long, unnecessary wait times for waitlisters. Meaning, there is no cap on how long any patrons can stay at a table. This place needs organizational management in the worst kind of way. I WOULD NEVER RETURN NOR RECOMMEND this restaurant if...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a restaurant that delivers amazing food, top-tier service, and a welcoming atmosphere, look no further than Roasted! It has become a Sunday tradition for my family and me to head there after church for brunch, and every visit is just as enjoyable as the last.
One of my favorite things about Roasted is the versatility—whether I’m in the mood for a relaxing family meal or a fun night out, they always deliver. Happy Hour on Fridays is a must, especially with my go-to cocktail, the Naughty Strawberry with Casa Amigo Reposado—highly recommend! And when it comes to food, I never skip on my favorite: the catfish sandwich with lemon pepper and a side of fries—absolutely delicious. My son, Khyden, is all about their honey butter wings, and let me tell you, they never miss!
Beyond the food, what really makes Roasted stand out is their exceptional customer service. As a business owner, I pay close attention to how a place operates, and this team has it down to a science. From the owner and manager to the bartenders (shoutout to Nene!) and servers, everyone is professional, friendly, and attentive—they truly get to know their customers and anticipate their needs before you even ask.
Roasted isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an experience. Whether you’re there for brunch, happy hour, or just a casual meal, you’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit. 10/10...
Read moreI was moving my bonus son into the neighborhood while he attends college in Nashville. My wife found the spot through Google and because it was a local independently end restaurant without would give it a shot. At around 2:00 in the afternoon we were the only people in there, and we ordered the chicken salad sandwich, the BLT, the salmon wrap and a chicken Philly. Pictured you'll see my chicken Philly. it was strange that they brought out every sandwich one by one, and after 5 minutes waiting for the last sandwich we asked them where it was and they didn't order it, much less make it! needless to say we had to wait in additional 10 minutes, making it 15 minutes total, since the other three of us got our food. on top of that, they didn't offer to comp the sandwich nor did they offer anything for free with the meal! my wife and I both had a beer, and the kids had water. There was plenty of opportunity to make it right. I'm also not sure about the decor, they had one sign that says please be courteous to all the other patrons around you and they had another sign that said pregnant women aren't allowed to drink. I'm not really sure what that is supposed to encourage? my sandwich was fine, I think this place is probably good for carryout right now because I wouldn't trust the staff for dining in. Giving it three stars is my act of...
