If you were born and raised in Connecticut, this is not good pizza at all. I think it definitely caters towards Yale students from out of state and those who come here from international countries.
It’s a convenient location for yell students as they can walk there, but that’s pretty much all. It’s good for Period
We ordered the double smash burger, which was pretty good. I wouldn’t say the patties were smashed patties just smaller patties, cooked decently vegetables on it we’re good and the bread was I assume a Martin’s potato roll which is all good.
The french fries were good, but it’s hard to mess up fries I would assume.
The pizza was not good at all, It was about $30 for one meat topping and two veggie toppings. And you got four deep dish style slices which is quite expensive for what you get. The broccoli and onion were cut very thin and burnt in the oven so all we tasted was burnt broccoli, and barely any of the onion as it shriveled up. And the bacon was sparingly put on so it didn’t get any bacon flavor. Overall, it was flavorless. The texture was nice, but that was about it. I would highly recommend not coming here for pizza. We also bought different types of sausage for two dollars each. The Korean barbecue sauce was not very good at all. Had a very dirt/earthy flavor. The ranch sauce was more of a watery dill sauce. And the blue cheese sauce had decent flavor, but also very very watery for some reason. The barbecue, buffalo, and orange sauce were...
Read more3 stars for now for thinking out of the box and the bravery to bring something different to the pizza scene in New haven. The prices are high and the choices are... out there. Im heading out tomorrow and will update this review accordingly. Im honestly nervous about trying something different that might suck as a lifelong spoiled Connecticut woman who ate at modern pizza and pepes 2-3 times a week.
Update 10/17/2025:
Pleasantly surprised, but it remains a 3 because of the tall price of $32 for a specialty pizza and a soda x_x A large clam pizza is $28 with leftovers at modern. While i enjoyed it, if you're gonna charge that, make the portions larger instead of the school lunch rectangle with 4 pieces. It's decent for quirky, gimmicky pizza.
That said, the crispy edges were good, the crust is thick and filling. I thought I was going to be hungry still but I'm full even after driving back to danbury.
Would I go all the way out for this pizza? Nope. Would i go for this if im in the area and don't feel like waiting at modern? Probably not. It's worth trying at least once, if you're open to trying something different ^^ its otherwise for international yalies,...
Read moreHonestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect, especially for always gravitating towards a thin crust pizza, especially in New Haven, but I have to admit, I was totally blown away. The crust wasn’t gummy like a lot of thicker-crust pizzas, and had a perfect amount of crisp all the way around. I always like to try a pizza place with just a standard cheese, but I’m excited to go back and try some of the different and unique toppings and combinations they have on the menu. The pizza seems small, but was surprisingly filling, and I could barely finish half and got two full meals out of it. It’s nice to have a new option that breaks the standard New Haven pizza mold, and especially one that has...
