The best Hyatt House I've been to, a nice suite with a kitchen, accommodating service, and discounts/upgrade from managers.
Ana upgraded my room to a suite on the corner with a kitchen, right after I booked a room with a microwave (after I told her about my medical needs and checked the room options with her). It made it possible for me to cook for myself and store groceries in a big refrigerator for the medically necessary meals and use the dishwasher. It immensely helped me manage pain while attending 3 conferences for 2 weeks.
Simge gave me a competitive rate/discount, which made it possible for me to stay there for 2 weeks.
Elie was very responsive. They gave me the metal pots, pans, and cooking utensils as well. For the items that housekeeping did not give me earlier, they put them in bags and hung them up at my door as I requested.
Nice views of the bridge as well, and the lights changed for Juneteenth.
Double curtains blocked the sunlight and heat as well. I wished for a remote control to roll them up as moving them up and down hurt my fingers. But it was good to have them to avoid sunlight and heat.
Wifi did not work one day, so I paid more to use a taxi than Lyft/Uber, although Ana called a taxi for me. Later, they told me that I needed to click “forget network” every day and get on their wifi every day. After then, no issues to call Lyft/Uber.
This is connected to Hyatt Regency inside, so no need to get heat outside to go to Hyatt Regency. Had I known that earlier, I would have booked here for an earlier conference in Hyatt Regency.
No forced house keeping for staying long was a benefit as well. With surge of COVID, I do not want people to enter my room during my stay.
Their gyms were small, but they gave me access to the gym to Hyatt Regency, which was bigger and nicer than theirs.
I hope they would continue to offer competitive prices and accommodating services. I would love to come back for conferences happening in other...
Read moreThis hotel is well located with street car stops across from the hotel, providing easy access to the french quarter. The Superdome is within very close walking distance of a block or two away. Everyone at the front desk was really nice and helpful. We have really been enjoying our stay! The suites are quite large and well equipped, some with nice views of the city. We started out with a king suite with view. It was extremely large, with two seating areas, workspace, large kitchen, and large shower and a vanity table. There were two bar chairs missing from the room, so the next day we moved across the hall to a Double Suite with a view. The room was smaller, but it felt nicer and cozier, and had a continuous flow of windows around the kitchen and living areas which was excellent. Both rooms were nice and clean. The beds are very very comfortable, if you like a firm solid bed with good linens and medium to soft plushy pillows. The rooms on the 16th floor were nice and quiet during our stay. Clean hallways and elevators. Housekeeping is by request only. There are no safes in the room. The breakfast each morning was very good with a fair number of choices to include eggs, bacon, potatoes, fruit, oatmeal, mini muffins, and a rotation of waffles, pancakes, biscuits & gravy, and french toast on different days. There was coffee, juice, water, and tea. Nice setup. Clean eating and serving areas. Parking was $25 a day in a parking garage connected to the hotel, and shared with other venues. You must pay in advance for parking, at one of the kiosks, in the garage, which isn’t owned by the hotel. There wasn’t a valet, but you could pull to the front of the hotel, grab a luggage cart, and bring your things up. Then go back down to park in the parking garage. The lobby is on the 11th floor, with a different set of elevators to get to the rooms. We’re hoping check-out is as smooth as everything else has been to this point. ...
Read moreI read reviews of this and the cons about the lobby being on the 11th floor, but figured since I knew this, it wouldn't bother me to check in. What I didn't realize is you ALWAYS have to take the elevator from street level to the 11th floor, then change elevators to your room. It got annoying having stayed there 7 days.
I found a cockroach in my shoe one morning. That was unpleasant. I didn't see a large number of them though, but yeah.... roaches. To be clear, it was one of the little ones, not the "water bug" roaches somewhat common (and still gross) in the South.
The breakfast was not great. The apple juice was watered down to barely taste. They rotated some items like pancakes, French toast or waffles. The waffles were soggy. The French toast was raw on one side (not even browned a little - wet raw), and the pancakes were what you'd expect based on the rest.
I suspect the mattress in our room has been there for a VERY long time. It was terribly saggy and uncomfortable.
With all that hate above, you may be wondering why 3 stars instead of 1 or 2. Well, the room was big and NOA has a lot of interesting yet horrible hotels. I've stayed in much worse for a lot more money there. This is a "reasonable" choice. I wouldn't stay there again myself, but don't want to fully hate on it. If you're a frequent visitor to NOLA, you can likely understand how much worse some of the "fancier" hotels are. Here, we had ample storage and space for the week.
No daily housekeeping unless requested.
Reasonable views...
