Bartender JM (Janes MICHAEL) was the soul of this nostalgic tavern rife with so much effortless charm: I sat in one of these well worn leather chairs while eating my dinner by the fireplace under a massive stuffed real turkey thankfully that was the only turkey here. I ordered a drink I swear could jumpstart my electric car called midnight in Paris. Michael knowing his stuff told me that green chartreuse is 110 proof, and I’m writing this under the influence of green petrol. Oh geez o forgot to talk about my burger, ok I’m tough and spoiled and picky about my burger: the bun has to have real whole grain, (check) gooey Brie cheese actually melted, (check) sweet carmelized onions (meaning their cooked well but not burnt,) checkmate and I asked for a side of the best tasting brown gravy I have ever had. Only improvement, coffee, and don’t run out of bread pudding. Oh since this is also a bar JM didn’t water down my drink he was/is actually more like a barmacist (their charming word) then your average surly better then you bartender. Once again writing a great review and I will now have to fight you the masses off. I did my homework seriously and glad I did, plus bonus I !gasp! payed a 1/3 the price got twice the service, was served quickly and it was a beautiful presentation. I also loved the music of my misspent youth I’m 55. Your welcome, Terry Davis sent you. Oh hell yes I’m coming back, I’m going to order anything with gravy and an egg and avocado. Plus the French 75, which as their libations menu explained, that the French 75, was “...a powerful field gun used in World War 1, ...Soxiante Quince in French, was created in 1915.” See your smarter already. First time in NOLA for vacation. It was about 10pm at night, so we ordered 2 burgers and a side of fries to go. I asked for 2 double cheese burgers, but the employee I spoke to said they don’t have double cheeseburgers they only have single burgers. Most restaurants have plain American burgers, when I ordered, I was unaware that their standard burger had bacon and blue cheese on it among other ingredients. Well, can’t say if it was our fault for not asking or they staff members fault for not related what was in our order. But my boyfriend doesn’t eat pork so one of the burgers had to be made over. When we explained this upon arrival, the bartender guy seemed agitated and seemed like he had a problem fixing the burger… He wasn’t the one cooking it, so I couldn’t understand why you had such an attitude. So as were waiting for my boyfriend’s new burger to be made, I decide to check the other burger to make sure everything was OK… I started with the french fries which tasted stale and cold, so definitely didn’t taste fresh… We asked for two medium well burgers, when I bit into the burger it was pink hot pink so to me it look like medium almost medium rare…At that point I was disgusted with the entire experience and we left And we went to a burger bar down the street and canel they had fresh burgers and french fries. So all in all the staff members definitely could’ve been better and the food could’ve been better this is my reason for...

This is my first time and I love New Orleans. But this was singlehandedly the worst experience in my time here. All throughout, people were kind, but not the bartender at this restaurant, Tyler. I was subjected to listening to him argue with several guests next to me with him making the most misogynistic talking points I legitimately thought only existed online on Reddit. He attempted to neg every young woman who came in, particularly on their age. On top of this, his service was terrible, yet he complained the city was awful and there was no money to be made. I feel if you ask service industry workers anywhere else in New Orleans, they'd heavily disagree. I have a feeling I know why he believes this though, and it has to do with his incredible negativity and insecurity. At least the food was halfway decent, but even then, it wasn't to-order and the chef came out and made just as many sarcastic remarks to us. It is truly a feat to learn the rudeness of the kitchen staff. I think we maybe said ten words collectively to either and felt inclined to say less the more we were exposed to this behavior.

If the owner is reading this, consider a restaffing. You have a nice location. Don't put your guests through dealing with this toxic nonsense. Burgers shouldn't come with a side of...

Backspace Bar & Kitchen in New Orleans is an absolute hidden gem. This unique establishment perfectly balances the best of both worlds - a welcoming neighborhood bar and a culinary haven. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it an ideal spot to unwind with friends or even enjoy a quiet night out. The combination of rustic décor and modern accents creates an atmosphere that's both trendy and comfortable. The menu at Backspace is a culinary journey worth savoring. The food here is a delightful fusion of flavors, from creative small plates to mouthwatering entrees. Their attention to detail in both taste and presentation is commendable. Don't miss their signature cocktails; they are expertly crafted and add an extra layer of enjoyment to your experience. What truly sets Backspace apart is the exceptional staff. They are not only knowledgeable about the menu but also friendly and accommodating. They go above and beyond to ensure your visit is memorable. Whether you're a local looking for your new favorite hangout or a visitor seeking a unique dining experience, Backspace Bar & Kitchen is a must-visit. It's a place where the combination of great food, exceptional cocktails, and warm hospitality elevates your night out. A true five-star gem in the heart of New Orleans.

Speaking personally, Backspace is a great after work spot for service industry people trying to get something a bit nicer than your usual basic bar food. The food is incredible. I had the blt recently with avocado and previously i had their Cuban sandwiche and the Korean bbq skewers. Perfect seasoning and fresh ingredients both lent themselves to my glowing review. The wine selection is good for a small French Quarter bar. I always find something i like. The craft cocktails are probably my favorite aspect of this place, other than the super comfy seating and old hardback books over the fire. Backspace is my new favorite bar in the FQ thus far.
