I was really excited about visiting this restaurant for the first time tonight. I have always been a big fan of Creole food as well as Soul food. However, as soon as I got out of the car people were immediately shouting racial slurs at me. Before I could get to the door, folks in the neighborhood made it very clear that they did not want any white people around. The menu looks great and the prices are very reasonable. I just don't think I would have made it out of there in one piece based on the way people were treating me before I even walked inside. Which is a shame because I love everyone and would welcome people of all races, genders, and ethnicities in my neighborhood.

Based on the incredibly rude replies from this restaurant to people who left reviews they didn't like, I don't think the service inside would have been any better. Rather than insult people and be disrespectful, maybe they should learn from these reviews and improve...

We are from Galveston & Houston Texas. On Saturday, February 1,2025 we visited Ray’s Uptown that we saw on fb and just had to try the food out. It did not open on time, we had to wait a few minutes to open after arriving by Uber. The wife wasn’t really friendly but the daughter-in-law was very friendly and great! When the food came out, the presentation wasn’t very pleasant! We had the Platter that was advertised on fb. The chicken wasn’t seasoned & almost burnt. The hush puppies were burnt, the fish wasn’t cat fish and was cut in pieces not whole filets and the fries weren’t even good, the shrimp were small., maybe frozen. The sides of collard greens and yams were ok but they weren’t even hot, luke warm. The Toast was the best thing on the platter. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone, $80...

It was a nice place with a DJ. Unfortunately the DJ music made it hard to hear the waitress and for the waitress to hear us. I thought she said the chicken was thighs and salad and my boyfriend ordered fish. (Being able to speak with the waitress was very important because the menus she brought to our table just had some food listings no pricings or pictures.) My boyfriend received shrimp and I got chicken wings. Unfortunately we both got French fries that were undercooked and salad that was warm with one little tomato. He did try to tell the waitress the fries weren't cooked but she didn't seem very concerned. I would have enjoyed some cocktail sauce with my shrimp but I never got the chance to ask for that or was offered it. So it goes without saying this was our first time here and it will...

This place appeared in boarded up building. For a few months they did not have windows but still served food. The patrons continuously park on the sidewalk and in the bike lane. They do not have proper disposal and the sidewalk is littered in food waste. They have makeshift tables that are permanently dumped in the middle of a cross walk. The are is a school bus stop and some mornings the smell from the garbage is so bad that you can not use the area as intended. This could be nice if done right but it seems like the owners are more interested in cutting corners and making a quick buck. I hope the city gets their act together and does something about this.

I took my best friend . I call mom to this restaurant for the first time visit here. It wasn’t too bad to get a seat, but it took forever to get your food. I receive my appetizer which was meat pies. Oh my gosh, hard as a brick . It was my waiters first day he had it seemed all the tables in my area. I felt sorry for him. He did his best, but when I receive my Shrimp Poboy I was very disappointed, frozen shrimps who does that in Louisiana who does that in New Orleans? I I was given a complementary drink because of the long weight which I thought was very nice. Not sure if I’ll return. I may give it another try but with a different order. 😟

Went here with some friends because we keep hearing about it. We waited 2 hours to get our food. When we first arrived they forgot that we were waiting to be seated. They stated that they " thought we left". We were a party of 6. Once we actually receieved the food, it was very good. We got the soulfood platter with collard greens and macoroni and cheese. The shrimp and fried chicken was amazing ( im allergic to fish). They did forget our yams, bt it wasnt a problem. Overaĺl I just think we came on a bad day.
