The staff is wonderful, very friendly. Portion sizes are small compared to cost on some of the dishes. Gratuity is added on for groups. Which was disappointing because we wanted to tip more but when we found that gratuity was calculated then we decided to just pay that and not the amount we wanted which was more than the amount on the receipt. Forced gratuity is a terrible practice. It is equivalent to a service charge or tax and it should be up to the customer to decide whether or not their servers earned the amount given or denied. Customers should also be made aware of this before ordering in order to decide whether or not they wish to proceed with their orders. We were not made aware and only found out after seeing the bill. Regardless, we felt she deserved more but opted to pay the lesser amount due to this practice which we despise.
Food took a while to come out but that lets me know it's being prepared fresh. So I don't mind the wait. However, I felt their food was a bit bland. Every dish we tasted was mediocre. I felt there was a consistency of flavor in each dish and none of them stood out from each other. Every option we ordered just tasted like the same thing. I didn't find anything special about their dishes. Also, you don't find a lot of meat in the meals. They cover it up with mostly vegetables and just a few pieces of meat. Their soups are not very well flavored. I really wanted to be blown away by this place but I didn't find anything to rave about here.
It is a CASH ONLY restaurant. Keep in mind. Go here with cash on you.
On a side note though: the way they prepare their dishes is great in that it's not oily. I felt that their food is really healthy compared to other restaurants. However, again, taste-wise, I would most likely not give this place a...

Absolutely the worst customer service. I constantly order from Amina Thai so this is just disappointing. I ordered a SMALL Vegetable Thai Soup and a Spicy Tom Yum Chicken Fried Rice over the phone. I asked for a small because whenever I order a large, it goes to waste and I have to throw it out. So when I went to go pick it up and paid, I saw that there was a large soup. When I told the cashier/hostess that I ordered a small, she quickly said that I ordered a large which I know I didn't because I specially needed a small today. I asked her to switch out the soup to a small and to credit my account for a small ($5) instead of a large ($9). Another male waiter then came out and started screaming saying I ordered a large and started banging the counter table. He began screaming in his native language, which I'm pretty sure he was cursing at me (SO DISRESPECTFUL). He asked me why does the system say large? It's not my fault that the person taking the order entered it as large. Then another hostess came out and asked me what the situation was and I explained everything to her. The other hostess that I initially spoke to then said that she "heard" a large on the phone so she charged me for a large. I told her that I just need a small and she can put the soup in small container. She went to the kitchen and packed the soup in a small container which apparently takes a few minutes. All this to get a small soup? No thank you Amina Thai. You just...
Read moreThe place is average, but it's lacking in many ways. The portions are really small. I've gotten 3 times more meat in my chicken and broccoli at other Asian restaurants. Waitress gave me water but didn't even fill my glass. Never asked how I'm doing. . Every 6 minutes, it felt like a mild earthquake with the F train rumbling underneath. The place was quiet, clean, and halal. Music wasn't blaring and it was well lit. I love the smoky glass so I have privacy while I'm eating. Decor was above average and the food was delicious. It's just that I was not full after leaving. Prices are 15% more here than comparable places in the neighborhood. I wish they gave more food for the money. I guess this place might be good for someone trying to loose weight due to the small portions. I want my money's worth when I eat out and want to feel full. Needless to say , the food was good but I was disappointed in the portions. They only have one flavor of ice cream, and...
