IHOP is open for 24 hours. I showed up at 5:30 am today, October 13, 2024. Requested for a table for 2. I was told that IHOP is closed. I could enter, but the door to the dining area was locked, as the employee looks at me with a smirk. We were just in disbelief. As I browsed the dinning area, I saw a few tables filled with people who were eating. Therefore, IHOP was open, but not for all. So, disappointed, I ordered a takeout for 2. As we were waiting for the take out we watched several people pass before us leaving the dining area after finished eating.
I saw a staff member serving tables and another staff member working the takeout windows and cashier at the same time. The one serving tables was working the cashier as well. If IHOP advertises open for 24 hours, why don't we have enough staff to cover the overnight shift. Having a security guard, and 2 staff members is not enough. This is a poor representation of customer service. If IHOP cannot be of service to all during a shift, then it is best to not open during those times.
I am regular for quite some time. I have never had any complaints, except for this time. Management for IHOP at 169 Street Hillside Avenue needs to organize their staff coverage. This is a prime location and not being able to accommodate the demands of the area is just not suitable.
As I waited for our orders, I watched another group of people arrive to be told that IHOP is only taking takeout at this time. The group left with great disappointment and said they are going to a diner instead. IHOP just lost that money and left a bad taste in those people's mouths.
At this point, I don't feel comfortable going to this IHOP at 169 street Hillside Avenue because I cannot tell whether the restaurant will be open for all or not. Mind you, there were plenty of available tables for guests, but basically no staff to work the tables.
What is the point of being open if you literally do not have staff? These poor management skills need immediate improvement. Having one cook, one table server and takeout representative on one shift is unacceptable.
The owner of this franchise at 169 Street Hillside Avenue should be behind the counter with his or her family when they have limited or no...
Read moreSo sad, this IHOP changed so much. It's no longer good at all. I remember going here with my family as a child and then some years ago with my bf. It was so good. Not the case anymore. It's loud, cramped and most of the staff are unprofessional and rude. The waitresses don't wear hair nets and they just disappear on you.
The quality of the food being prepared want good at all. My bf ordered T bone steak with eggs hashbrowns and pancakes. I ordered 2, 2, 2. That's 2 eggs 2 pancakes and 2 bacon.
My bf asked for his steak medium well. When the order came the steak looked off. It had a grayish color and you can tell that when they cooked it the grill wasn't hot enough to get a good sear it had the bubbled up pieces of blood on it. When we tasted it, it was very chewy and didn't taste good. His pancakes also didn't come out with the rest of the order so by the time they brought them food was getting cold. I asked for my eggs over medium and they still had runny white's.
My bf was complaining about the steak and the waitress went to ask for another one and the cook told the manager he wasn't going to make another one because it was probably going to come out the same so the manager asked my bf if he wanted to get something else. My bf was adamant about getting steak (i would never order steak at a diner) so finally another manager came over and took everything away and said they were bringing another order. The whole time in sitting there not sure if I should finish what I did think was edible, the toast and pancakes cause my bf kept saying "I'm about to just leave"
They finally bring my bf his new order and the steak looked like it had a better sear this time but it was medium rare. I personally would eat steak that way, because I was raised to, but the point is that he asked for it medium well.
They did wind up not charging us for my bf's breakfast and the manager and one other lady who knows my bf from him being a long time customer was very nice and they tried however, we won't...
Read moreFood: everything is undercooked. I had to send back the hashbrowns to be cooked because the potato was cooked outside slightly but raw potato on the inside. Eggs were so undercooked I couldn't eat them (I normally don't mind eggs a bit undercooked, but this was beyond that). The steak omelet was a joke. The hash inside is raw! The steak is just a broken-up burger patty. Disappointed. Pancakes are always cooked and done well so you can't go wrong there.
Service: Horrible. There is only one waitress there that is lovely. I forgot her name but she is a white woman with her hair in a ponytail. She was responsive and helpful. She tended to all her tables well because she wasn't busy talking with the rest of the horrible staff. The rest of them, and this was not the first time I've gone here, are utterly disturbingly the worst set of workers I've ever come across. Such attitude and it takes them forever to do anything even when it's not busy. Horrible. The atmosphere is okay. Same as the other ones. Can't stop bad people from sitting behind you anywhere because this is NY so it's fine. Can't be controlled. My husband and I (mixed couple) had a couple (Latino and Latina) who sounded like a first date have a conversation about why they don't like or date black people behind us. It was off-putting but whatever. It's IHOP so what do you expect? We just laughed and...
