Astoria Tea — Restaurant in New York

I can't speak to the quality of this company's tea, or any of its products. They're probably great.

What I can speak to is the fact that I walked in yesterday, excited to take a look as I'd never been. I looked to my right and left and saw two customers, neither of which were wearing masks with the cashier looking right at them. "Okay," I thought, "Happens a lot or maybe they just had it down - but the clerk should really say something."

That's when I realized the cashier himself - fit guy with facial hair, wasn't wearing a mask at all - nothing. Not under his nose, under his chin, on his arm even - nothing.

I refuse to give my money to a business that risks the health and well-being of its customers and isn't taking one of the largest global health crises in history seriously. It was negligible, irresponsible, and outright says, "We don't care about our customers' safety."

I won't be coming back and am hoping everyone can see this review and choose to put their money into a place that cares more about the safety of their customers.

I've changed my review to 3 stars (instead of the original 1) due to the maturity and diligence of your response. I'm happy to hear the business owner does indeed care and the issue has been resolved with the staff and the problem isn't occurring from the top down. I recently visited this shop with the intention of buying some tea but was met with an extremely unwelcoming atmosphere from the moment I entered. Upon greeting the person tending the shop, I was blatantly ignored. When I proceeded to ask questions about their tea selections, the person was not only dismissive but also outright rude in their responses. Unfortunately, it was only after my visit that I read reviews about how they're racist towards Asians. Such behavior is utterly unacceptable and must be addressed. This place is absolutely fantastic. Arguably one of the best Grecian tea specialty shops in Astoria Queens. I highly suggest coming here and tasting a cup of the Mountain Tea with a blend of Pepermint. It is a local mom and pop shop that is so special to me. I am feeling very relaxed and calm after having a nice cup of herbal tea from Loose Leaf Inc. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about the teas in the shop.

It was such a delight to spend a rainy day sipping tea and reading.
