I'm a fairly new customer at Bagel Express for about 3 weeks and have visited about 6 or so times. My experience up until this morning was excellent, the cashier is the best always smiling making sure he gets my coffee exactly the way I like it. Unfortunately this morning I asked for my usual a bagel, take out the middle with butter. I saw the person fix it and noticed that he fixed it a little to fast so I asked him did you take out the middle he said yes, the other person next to him said yes he took out the middle. I got to the counter and I asked again did you take out the middle, the other person said to me "Oh so you didn't believe me" so we laughed and I said it feels heavy that's why I asked. Got to the office the middle wasn't taken out so I went back (to prove a point) bagel in hand and said to him take a look at the bagel, no one said anything, I said I asked 4 times was the middle taken out and the other guy said no you asked FIVE times. I mean really my food wasn't prepared properly and you are going to get smart with me! It doesn't matter how many time I asked 1 time or 50 times. The cashier on the way out said he was sorry, but he didn't make the error, neither of the other two said anything. I don't usually right reviews but I was so frustrated this morning. I probably won't visit...
Read moreWe stayed in Manhattan in August 2017 for 5 days and this place was recommended by our hotel staff. This place was amazing, delicious and cooked to order breakfast, you had the option of a platter (plate) or in a bread roll or bagel, 2 eggs cooked to your preference bacon and sausage with potatoes and toast for between $5 to $7, rather than get individual cartons of OJ we bought the $8 large bottle (Tropicana) and they give you the cups, Needless to say we ate Breakfast there every day as our hotel was around the corner. The freshly made smoothies cost $6 and were delicious as were the fresh fruit bowls $4 with melon, strawberry, kiwi etc (I noted that in other places retail or chain store this cost $8 plus!) The staff were VERY friendly, patient & helpful, it has a few tables but its not a diner where you expect padded seating and large tables, Bagel Express caters for takeaway so if you opt to eat inside you get plastic plates, cups & cutlery. Being a family of 6 we saved money eating here and in my opinion it was cheaper than a MacDees. Being a Brit I would complain if the food or service was bad, the fact I left them a tip on the last day says it all! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED I will be going back there even if it means having to choose a hotel near Bagel Express on my...
Read moreHow to lose a customer quickly. Having tried the bagel on the first day of my arrival in NYC, I was pretty impressed. I thought of going back on the second and I orderd a western omelet. Apparently it had Ham in it, which I don’t eat. So I went back to the counter and explained that I didn’t know about the ham. I didn’t even ask and the guy already started telling me that it was on me that I didnt tell them and I should have told them and gave me an entire lecture. I decided to leave immediately if it wasn’t for the interference from another bystander. They redid the omelet, but it turned out tasteless. That was the last time I ate there. Again, the food is good, but the service level needs...
