Bel-Fries Fast Food — Restaurant in New York

Now let me start by saying, I am not the worlds greatest Belgian french fry connoisseur however I consider myself knowledgeable and what goes into a really good fry. I’m traveled the great plains of United States and the seven seas of the world and I found many decadent options and here in New York we already have Pomme Frites Which if you ask anyone to attend NYU, is a staple in and of itself. So when I caught wind that Bel-Fries Had set up shop in town not too far from my beloved Homestead I need it to pay a visit. However, the coronavirus Redirected my plans and I need to adapt however the day has come and I am now sitting in the outside seating section of Bel-Fries. I won’t lie, coming into this I was fearful that my favorite place would be friend but I remain sure however, I will concede, the bel fries is legitimate. The black truffle sauce and the garlic aïoli or not to be reckoned with, the fries themselves or crispy golden and soft and tender in the inside. It makes for everything you would imagine from a french fry experience. I'd been looking forward to this place for a few years. In fact I stayed in the lower east side partially because I wanted to indulge. I love great French fries. I'm a total French fry snob. Since this place just sell fries - I was expecting and hoping it would be the best French fries I'd ever had. After all, it's their "specialty". Well, they weren't the worst, but they weren't anywhere near great. McDonald's is more satisfying. Here's a list of the best French fries I'd ever had - 1. Ajax Tavern in Aspen. These were so good I even asked to speak to the chef about how he made them and we have a great discussion. I'd even recognized these fries were like the fries I'd had a few years before at another restaurant in Aspen called Montagne. Turns out he was running the kitchen at the time. 2. Montagne in Aspen. 3. Hal's Bar and Grill in Venice, California. 4. Balthazar in New York. 5. Joe Allen's in New York. All of these are terrific. Bel Fries? I didn't even finish ONE frite. Food – look the fries here undeniably good I mean they are really good. We came to the special promotion which was the caviar fries which they were selling for $10. The price as you would expect is a great deal for caviar fries, caviar, sour cream, and fresh french fries They were great. The flavor was awesome. They were small which should’ve been expected. I get about 10 fries again this to be expected with caviar on fries.

Staff + space - biggest issue I have with this place is that the staff was incredibly aggressive. I’m sure he was just having a bad day so I’m not trying to get anybody in trouble, but we walked up immediately yelled at everybody who isn’t ordering needs to leave the ordering area, which is kind of strange. They went and sat down. Moved a couple tables together he yelled at tables cannot be moved came over and aggressively moved them back. He really made us feel uncomfortable and not wanted to be honest. Maybe not even wanna order the food after all there’s a whole table that has cone shaped areas for to hold your food and I feel like we couldn’t even stand there. His attitude really...
