I liked Broadway bagels before they renovated. They had the greatest home fries after they renovated they changed the home fries to what seems like frozen seasoned potatoes and the seasoning isn't great and they don't have the onions and peppers in them. They seem more chaotic than they were before even though they have more people behind the counter. You have a female cashier and the guys that take your order plus the cooks. They still don't get what scrambled eggs are, they feel that because the egg is mixed in the bowl they're giving you scrambled eggs yet they leave it on the grill in one whole piece which is fried egg. They throw not well cooked bacon in your BLT which is horrible and I got peanut butter and jelly on a bagel and they glopped all this peanut butter on it with her little jelly, it made no sense. You should charge less and put a decent amount of peanut butter and the jelly more in ratio with the peanut butter. They also had more flavors of OJ to choose from before they renovated. Before they renovated I would have given them 4 stars because it just worked better with the staff although they still needed to cook the bacon better in your sandwich. Who likes eating...

Stopped in for breakfast for the first time before a morning walk to Central Park and onto the Met. The place was busy ( a good sign!) and the service brisk and friendly. Hubby got the nova lox with scallion cream cheese, capers, onion and tomatoes on an everything bagel as other reviewers suggested and it was amazing! The rest of us had very tasty everything bagel egg sandwiches which were also excellent. We had read about the unique French toast bagel and even though our portions were large, had one to share and it was just enough maple-y sweetness and not overwhelming sweet at all. I hoped to get back before our trip ended to try one toasted with butter and sweetened cream cheese —I think that would be fantastic! Time didn’t allow us to return but next visit will do for sure. Even just the regular coffee was well brewed and perfect boldness. We met the owner too, impressed with his diligent management of the place and had a very welcoming and friendly conversation—his care and attention to everything is impressive. Overall great food and service and a well cared for...

I recently moved back to Manhattan after living in other states for college and work in my field, and after spending a week or two going from deli to deli in search for the best breakfast sandwich in the neighborhood, I found Broadway Bagel, and instantly felt at home again.

This establishment has and will have my loyalty for as long as I live in the UWS, and I don't think I'm alone in this either. At 8 or 9AM each day of the week, and all the way through lunchtime on weekends, there is a line that extends from the register near the entrance all the way to the beverage cooler in the back, but you'll almost never have to wait more than 10 minutes to leave with your order thanks to their attentive and friendly staff, and powerhouse of a kitchen. Seating is limited, so if you're looking to stay, you'll need to catch someone's eye or snag a seat right after it's opened up.

These are the freshest, doughiest bagels one can find in at least a 10 block radius, each with enough cream cheese to make it a perfect shmear, and their flaky chocolate (or almond) croissants...

Every neighborhood deserves a dependable bagel shop, and for me, Broadway Bagels plays that role beautifully. Their bagels have that perfect balance—chewy yet flavorful, hearty without tipping into dense brick territory. My go-to order is the everything bagel with green onion cream cheese, a combination that consistently earns its place as a star performer in the bagel world. Now, let’s address the elephant in the room—or rather, the mountain: the cream cheese. Yes, they’re generous to the point of excess. It’s practically an architectural feat. I usually end up editing the portion myself, but on the bright side, it makes the bagel hearty enough to stretch into two meals. Efficiency and indulgence in one. The one drawback is the absence of indoor seating. This isn’t a “linger with your laptop” type of spot. Instead, I take my bagel three blocks down to Central Park, which, truthfully, turns the whole experience into something rather idyllic. Bagel in hand, city all around, nature just ahead—hard to complain. A neighborhood classic, and one I’m grateful to have nearby.
