Couldn't have enjoyed this place more. What a great burger place, butcher, and take-away restaurant on the UWS/Manhattan Valley/Columbia area. It wasn't crowded on a Thursday night, so my girlfriend and I were able to talk with Richie a while and he was really nice, knew a lot of about the food industry in NYC, and was a pleasure to talk with.
The food was outstanding. We both ordered cheeseburgers, one Schatzie's and one grass-fed, and loved them both. You could tell the meat was high-quality and that was the star. They weren't as greasy as others but still had a ton of flavor.
We got the fries with rosemary and they were just a bit crispy but soft and delicious. Someone else ordered the truffle ones which smelled great.
The fried Oreos though were one of the best desserts I've had, the pancake batter they use to fry made all the difference, super good!
They also have a solid roster of beers, some of which are harder to find.
Overall, this place is worth venturing to for a meal and I can't wait to try the rest...

Read moreEverything was delicious. Schatzie and son, Richie were very kind hosts. My burger was cooked perfectly medium rare with crisp bacon, melted cheddar and a runny egg. Sides were excellent. Belgium fries with truffle oil, Brussel sprouts in a delicious sauce with chunks of thick bacon were mouth watering. Buffalo wings were another homerun. Then the cowboy ribeye was for sure something to write in about. Charred on the outside with a spot on medium rare inside. Don't think I've ever had a more perfectly cooked steak....
