Let me start this by saying I literally despise returning things and usually just make the best of it. But then I got the hardest sourdough baguette Iāve ever gotten in my life.
And I get it was the end of day and not fresh off the rack but anyway I walked away and then squeezed it as I got out and was like oh man. Itās just not going to be edible. Even heated up.. so me trying to be optimistic tried to rip a piece off. It was so hard and dry I couldnāt even chew it. I was like maybe Iām being a baby so I tried to rip it lower. And it was just comically difficult.
So I go back coursing with anxiety because I hate this so much. and Iām just like hey sorry but this is so hard I really canāt use this, and do u have any other type of softer baguette bread. And the person at the counter told me they were all like that, and I assumed so for the sourdough. So I was again like do you have another type of baguette. And they did, and they gave it to me! Which was awesome and very appreciated.
But then someone, maybe the owner? came out of nowhere to tell me that all sour dough bread was that hard, and like went on a rant about sour dough bread facts basically. And even my socially awkward a$$ had to just verbally note that āyeah Iāve had sour dough beforeā. It was wild to me, and she was āI went to Franceā gas lighting me over what sour dough bread is supposed to be like.
Usually chewable but hey. But I guess this owner has a more sophisticated palette and tooth hardness than me that she learned in some exclusive part of France Iāve never been to or heard of.
Super sad cuz yall have been on my list for years. Anyway if u wanna pay like 5-6$ for a baguette and get a lecture about sour dough bread from a lady whoās been to France, go here.
Also they seem to like to comment passive aggressive responses but take that as whatever color flag you want...

I have been going to your bakery since it opened as I'm sure others in the neighborhood also have. Everyone who serves us in the store have been so helpful. It is a pleasure to have Silver Moon in the neighborhood. Today I was on line. The woman before me ordered rhubarb scones. I had not known you had rhubarb scones. She ordered the last two, but then offered them to me and she would take the cranberry scones. I thanked her and told her that she should have them and I would try them another day. Not only are the workers so helpful, but the customers are so kind and generous also. It is your store that attracts so many wonderful neighborhood clients. Of course, it is the quality of the selection at your bakery that attracts everyone as well.

I understand that the price of the biscotti went up, but the quality of the biscotti has gone down, although I still buy it, the friends I give it to are disappointed, and so am I. I ordered a galette for Three Kings Day, and it was such a big hit at the party. It tasted as good as any I have eaten in France.
I also brought a Decadent Chocolate Cake to a dinner party Monday night. It was not the first time I have bought this cake. It was a big hit Monday night, and it has always been a big hit whenever I bring one.
I usually bring biscotti wherever I go, as the biscotti are also a big hit. Last Monday night, I only bought the Decadent Chocolate Cake, but everyone was disappointed that I did not also bring biscotti.
These are only a few of my favorite things from Silver Moon. I have been buying their items since they opened, and am so happy...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is charming and a staple in my neighborhood, The UWS. I come here for coffee and the occasional pastry, which are delicious. I truly enjoy sitting at their outdoor cafe, where you can pleasurably take in the view. I gave it four stars due to service. Yesterday I stopped by for just iced coffee, and after waiting for around 3 other patrons to be served I politely gestured to be dispatched and the male cashier pointed at another person (who walked in after me) he would attend to next. After seeing this I asked if in order to be served I had to order from the bakery. The owner happened to walk by and genuinely apologized, and notified me that the line was 3 feet from where I was standing - I was right at the register (I didn't know this, but the 3 servers had opportunities to advise me and didn't). But, what made me cringe was that as I was walking out, and the only customer in the bakery at this point, a dark skin Hispanic female employee states to a male Hispanic cashier, "Y Ella?" (Translation: "What's with her"). Although the experience was upsetting, I will continue to visit Silver Moon, because the owner kind of made up for her employees rude behavior. Nevertheless, I feel it was disrespectful and should be addressed...
