Today I went to pizza shop and ordered 3 slices. One slice was a ricotta slice and I asked for a little sauce to be put on top. I was told I had to pay 1 more for the sauce by the worker making the pizza. I was shocked because I have never paid extra for a little a little sauce on my ricotta slice. I wasn’t gonna pay and the guy said if I want it that I have to pay since it is a topping. I read the toppings list and it wasn’t there. I told him that it is not clearly written on the toppings list so how would I know that it cost extra. He said ok I will give it to you but next time you know and you will pay 1 more. I responded, then you need to put it on the toppings list. That was after his rudeness towards me and unacceptable behavior. Shortly after the same guy was rude to another customer. I went back inside and asked for his name. But he refused, stating if I told him why I wanted his name he would give it to me. Then, I told him I was going to call Sal and tell him how rude he was. Again, he refused! He said that I should wait until the owner is in the store, so he could be there when I spoke to him. Really! He also told me that he is recording me, sounded like a threat towards me! Why because I had asked for his name and took photos to write my review. The nice new young lady taking orders apologized for his rude behavior. I accepted her apology and stated that he is the one who needs to apologize. I walked out and tried to call Sal using the number in the photo below that they provided. I called and an answering machine states “Madonna’s Cemetery and Mausoleum.” What in the world?!?! Contact Sal because it is the same owners, it’s a family business and same family recipe!!! Their sign comes off as how dare customers ask or even accuse them of being new owners. Their response in their sign is IT IS NOT. Well after my experience today they are lying because I was not able to reach Sal on his personal cell phone number. You can call the number yourself from their sign in the photo below. The proof is in the pudding. Now I understand why he was trying to ignore my questions and accusing me of wrong doing. The audacity of him! He is in the wrong and their hand written fraudulent signs posted are false and misleading. They are not worried about customers calling “Sal the owner” since the number they provide will not allow you to speak to Sal. They are imitating the real Sal’s pizza and I will not be returning! Don’t let them fool and disrespect you too! Thanks but...
Read moreI remember a time when this local pizza shop, nestled in the heart of our neighborhood, was a true gem. The original owners poured their heart and soul into their work, and it showed in every slice. They knew their customers by name, and their passion for pizza was infectious. But now, it's a different story.
Since the torch was passed to the grandson, the heartwarming atmosphere that once graced this place has vanished. The first thing you notice is the absence of the owner. There's no longer that personal touch, the warm greeting, or the feeling that you're dining in a place where pride and passion reign supreme.
Service has taken a nosedive. Waiting times have grown frustratingly long. The quality of ingredients and the taste of the pizza have suffered. It's clear that this is no longer an owner-operated business, and it's painful to witness. The hours of operation have changed in their favor yet they can’t seem to ever open up on time.
In the past, you could feel the dedication of the original owners in every bite. The fresh ingredients, the perfectly seasoned sauce, and the love put into each pie were evident. Now, it feels like any other fast-food joint.
If you're looking for a true owner-operated pizzeria where your satisfaction matters, this sadly isn't it anymore. The difference between the past and the present is as stark as night and day. I miss the days when this place was the heart of our neighborhood, but that's just...
Read moreI like a good pizza and I do have to say New York City has some of the best pizza I have ever eaten even on a trip to Venice, Italy. I lived for three years in NYC and tried different pizzas during my time there. So when my daughter and I were in NYC in October 2018 for an overnight visit to see the city, we traveled here to try the pizza. I read an article back in 2017 that it was rated one of the best pizzas in NYC. I told the guys there that I traveled from Virginia and since I was in Manhattan I want to try their pizza because of that article. So I ordered one slice of cheese pizza because my daughter said she was not hungry.... well that changed really quick after she took a bite of my pizza. I went and got another slice and after one bite I also agreed that this was really good pizza and went and ordered two more whole pizzas (one pepperoni) to take with us back to Virginia. I had parchment paper and an extra shoulder bag to carry the pizza in... by the way guys the pizza made it with no problem and still tasted good!! Of course the guys thought I was a little crazy and asked if there are no good pizza makers in Virginia... mostly no unless you find a good place that makes it like this. They should consider opening a pizza restaurant down here!! The guys are friendly, they use the best ingredients to create the pizzas they make, the restaurant is clean and enough seating for normal traffic or you can take it with you (use...
