Well, I hate to do this but it must be done. A new restaurant opened up in the hood. Moon Kee, a Chinese restaurant out of NJ opened up on 100th and Broadway. We were so happy when they opened. Needed a new Chinese restaurant but the customer service is not just bad, it’s appalling.
I called in a pick up and got there early and sat down. Took ten minutes for someone to acknowledge me. Finally got the order and went home only to find it was the wrong order. Went back in the rain and the manager realized it was wrong and took the food back with him to the kitchen. I’d be upset if they were going to send that out again.
I sat there for another 20 min while no one offered a glass of water or tea or an apology. He came back with the correct food. When I asked why no one offered me a glass of water while I waited he yelled, loud, “Whatever!” And turned to answer the phone.
When I politely asked again he yelled at me to get out. I give this place six months before they close. Hey guys, this isn’t NJ! I’m not going back and don’t recommend it to anyone else. Yes, owner yelled at me in front of a crowded restaurant

I see the response and have to add that the only aggressive actions were taken by the owner towards me. Whoever wrote this response, probably ChatGPT, did a very nice job however inaccurate.
No apology was given and the food I returned was brought back into the kitchen only to be given to another unsuspecting customer which probably goes against health codes.
I have worked in hospitality and restaurants and have never been so disappointed in a customer service experience in my life.
I have now heard from others who have had similar experiences so unless there is a change in attitude by the owner it doesn’t look good for your longevity. It’s really...
Read moreFirst time customer. Really disappointing. I thought that I'd try the lunch special. I got it to go. Kung Pao Shrimp, Spring Roll, Hot and Sour Soup. Service was fast and friendly. Atmosphere was... well, I didn't eat there and there was no one in there, but can only imagine how loud it must be when it's full. Lighting seems harsh, but maybe they dim down at night. More importantly, the food was clumsy. I will say that the bell peppers were fresh and cooked pefectly, but beyond that.... The shrimp was fishy, the red chili peppers were burned and bitter, very few peanuts, but not over cooked and oddly they whole thing was just completely underseasoned. So strange. It just needed so much more flavor. Soy sauce, garlic, fish sauce, onion, anything. Very watery. The spring roll was packed with the shrimp so it was completely soggy and soft. The hot and sour soup was very hot and sour, which I like, but again very clumsily seasoned. All of the spice was clearly coming from black pepper and only black pepper. It tasted like black pepper and vinegar soup; not the amalgam of what Hot and Sour Soup is. The proportions were very unbalanced. Could have used more black mushroom and tofu, just a bit. Perhaps their Dim Sum is better. So odd to read such good reviews. I was really hoping...
Read moreI have eaten here two times over the past three weeks, after finding out of its opening from a friend's recommendation. First and foremost, I am a bit of a BBQ roasted duck connoisseur and I can say that the one they prepare here is the best that I have had yet in the city(among 22 different restaurants so far that I have sampled). They actually go through a very particular, time-intensive dry aging process(other restaurants tend to use a shortcut method for this step) with their birds that yields a beautifully crispy skin that is just to die for and meat that is seasoned so perfectly, bursting with juice and flavor. Everything that I have had here has been absolutely delicious thus-far. The food is so fresh and the atmosphere and service are completely inviting. Their noodle soups are wonderful and their signature clay hot pots, you cannot get enough of as they are so aromatic and just a real treat. For dim sum choices, everything is made on the spot and their dumplings are just so delicate and thin. I could go on and on but what I will say is this......"the Upper West Side has an "A class" spot for those wanting delicious, beautifully prepared, Cantonese food." It really is one of the best in all of New York City will not remain a newbie, "hidden...
