Bukhara Grill Indian Spices Rave by Raja Jhanjee is an absolute standout. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warm hospitality and an inviting atmosphere. The means are unique and there are actually a couple of them especially one that has all the Chef’s Specials. They started us off with crispy papad accompanied by a selection of flavorful sauces, setting the stage for an incredible dining experience.
We began with a variety of appetizers, each one bursting with authentic Indian flavors. The papri chaat was the perfect balance of crunch, spice, and tanginess. The chicken khurchan, made with boneless tandoori chicken cooked with onions, ginger, garlic, and green chilies, had a wonderful depth of flavor and just the right amount of heat. The dahi aloo papri, a delightful mix of potatoes, chickpeas, yogurt, tamarind, and mint chutney, was both refreshing and satisfying. The jalapeño and cheese samosas were a unique twist, combining the crispy perfection of traditional samosas with a creamy, slightly spicy cheese filling that was absolutely delicious.
For the main course, we ordered the chicken tikka masala, which featured tender, clay-oven-cooked chicken in a rich and creamy tomato sauce. It was incredibly flavorful and paired perfectly with naan (which was humongous, so you only need to order one lol) and basmati rice. The lamb chops, also known as Adaam ki chaamp, were the highlight of the meal. Marinated in fresh ginger and garlic, they were incredibly tender, buttery, and full of bold flavors. Every bite melted in our mouths. We also had the tandoori mix grill, which included a generous assortment of hariyali kebab, malai kebab, chicken tikka kebab, lamb barrah, and lamb sheekh kebab. Each piece was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, offering a variety of textures and flavors that made the platter a true feast.
To round out the meal, we enjoyed a refreshing mango lassi, which was thick, creamy, and just the right amount of sweet. It was the perfect way to cool down after the rich and aromatic dishes.
They were so nice, they gave us dhaal on the house.
Beyond the incredible food, the service and hospitality were exceptional. Arnav, Raja’s son, took the time to greet us personally, sharing insights about their restaurant and impressive catering business, which handles nearly 200 weddings a year. Raja himself came over to check on us, making sure we were enjoying our meal. Their attentiveness and genuine care for their guests made the experience even more special.
Besides all their staff wearing unique uniforms, another great aspect of Bukhara Grill is their commitment to accommodating dietary needs. They do not use peanut oil in their dishes and are very mindful of allergies. They also offer a $30 lunch buffet, which is an amazing deal for the quality and variety of food they provide.
All the food here is halal, making it a fantastic option for anyone looking for high-quality, authentic Indian cuisine. The combination of delicious food, outstanding service, and warm hospitality makes this place a must-visit. Whether you're looking for a casual meal, a special night out, or a place to host an event, Bukhara Grill Indian Spices Rave is the perfect choice. We’ll definitely be...
Read moreI’d heard about Bukhara Grill for years—its legacy tied to the legendary location at a five-star hotel in New Delhi—so visiting their NYC outpost had long been on my list. I finally made it for a weekday lunch. Though I had a reservation, it wasn’t necessary—the space was comfortably busy but not full, and there was no buffet.
The ambiance was warm, with an old-world charm, and though service was a bit slow, the manager personally checked on each table, adding a thoughtful touch.
We started with complimentary roasted papad and freshly made chutneys—simple yet full of flavor. For drinks, we had their homestyle lemonade and a fresh lime soda. The lemonade, sweetened lightly with honey and brightened with real lemon, was a standout—a perfect escape from the summer heat.
Appetizers kicked off with their Bukhara Special Tangri Kebab: three perfectly grilled chicken legs, smoky and juicy inside—hands down one of the best kebabs I’ve had in years.
For mains, we shared the laal maas—a Rajasthani-style goat curry with a rich, onion-tomato base—and their signature Dal Bukhara. The dal was velvety, luxurious, and deeply tomato-forward, with cubes of butter melting through—delicious, though slightly reminiscent of pizza sauce due to the tomato intensity.
We paired everything with buttery aloo paratha, flaky lachha paratha, and their massive cilantro-chili naan, all served piping hot and fresh. Portions were generous—we couldn’t finish and had to pack the rest.
Dessert was off the table—we were stuffed. But if you’re a fan of North Indian or Northwest Frontier cuisine, this place is a must-visit. Come hungry, and don’t skip the kebabs or...
Read moreI don’t usually write reviews, but this experience was so unbelievably bad, I had to say something. On May 19th, I drove all the way from Long Island to NYC just to try this restaurant’s location. I had a confirmed reservation, yet my entire family and I were left standing and waiting; with no courtesy or communication. When we were finally seated, it took over 90 minutes just to get our appetizers. And when the food finally arrived, it tasted stale and off as if it had been sitting out all day.
Then came the main course, or at least what should have been. After another ridiculous hour long wait, the dishes started trickling in; one at a time, incomplete, and cold. No coordination, no explanation, and worst of all, no accountability. The wait staff was totally disinterested, and the manager never showed face. No apology, no effort, nothing.
And here’s what really shocked me: I’ve been to their other branch before, and their naan breads are usually large in size (one is more than enough for 2 people) and fresh. But this time? They were barely half the size; flat, dry, and clearly rushed after making us wait all that time. It felt like they were cutting corners on everything that day.
Our bill came out to $350, and for that amount, I expected a premium dining experience. Instead, I got a masterclass in how not to run a restaurant. I swear, if I wasn’t hosting the dinner for my guests, I would’ve walked out on the spot.
I’ve been to their NJ branch and had great service there, but this NYC location was an utter disaster. If you care about your time, money, or dignity; avoid this place...
