The food here is good, but what makes it a restaurant worth visiting regularly is their prices. The value is insane. I can't remember the last time I went out and received this much food for my money. It's filling, tasty, and doesn't leave you feeling unhealthy or heavy afterwards.
The tofu steak sounds like a boring dish, but I think it's pretty tasty. The outside is crisp and white despite being fried, which I think is interesting. The inside is just standard tofu. Then it's coated in ponzu (?) sauce and a sprinkling of sesame seeds and served over some cabbage, or it might have been lettuce. I'm not too sure.
The miso soup is standard.
The beef bowl combo is also pretty good (although I again concede that it sounds boring). I believe it's some kind of marinated beef, served in chunks slightly larger than ground beef normally is. It comes with some sesame seeds and pickled vegetables over rice, as well as a house salad (lettuce, carrots, and sesame-flavored dressing) and a drink.
The most recent dish I've tried from Charlie's place is the tuna combo. I had one piece that was rather fishy, and the rest was just okay. I'm still undecided on their...
Read moreI had the worst experience. I am a pregnant diabetic woman. I ordered the bento box. I told them I can't have two starch, I will pay extra for them to put another protein in the box. They told me that they "don't understand my english, and to leave the store and don't come back, thank you." The guy in the front told me that I keep telling him that I am pregnant, I am too sensitive.. he wants to take another customer. I said I am a customer too. Then the lady told me that i can't talk to any other customer.. i told them that in America i have freedom of speech as per the constitution. So I said if it is because I am black because money has no color.. Finally the lady who is the cashier took the order. Overall the guy who claim to be owner in the front was rude and disrespectful. They have horrible customer service. My sugar level had drop to 64. I told them I don't want to go into a diabetic shoc. The man walked away and did not cook the food. So the lady ask the Spanish cooks in the back to cook my food. I am very angry and furious with this restaurant because I felt discriminated against for being a diabetic...
Read moreFirst time trying this place. My husband and I love a good Japanese restaurant, but this place kinda disappointed us. It’s more of a fast food Japanese restaurant than a sit down and eat place. The salad was pre-made and the ginger dressing was not too good. The gyoza were clearly pre-made and microwaved which was sad. The spicy pork bowl was okay; as was the chicken bibimbob. The sushi was also not as hoped. The spicy shrimp tasted okay. The shrimp tempura was not actually a tempura roll since it was cold. The best part of the meal was the volcano roll. That tasted pretty okay. The service was nice, but it took a long time to get food. The restaurant also did not smell that good either. So this is definitely more of a fast food for a quick lunch break, but don’t expect to be...
