I normally wouldn't go out of my way to leave a review like this, but being that this establishment charges exorbitant prices for the same food you can get at a local deli, I felt that it was necessary. I was looking for a good breakfast sandwich, which I could have purchased from a tried and true neighborhood deli but decided to "treat myself" to a breakfast sandwich from Comptons. I purchased the "New Yorker," which is a two eggs over medium, choice of bacon, sausage, ham or turkey bacon, American cheese & red pepper aioli sandwich served on a poppy seed kaiser roll. No lie, this might've been the worst breakfast sandwich I ever had, and given all of the hype of what Comptons has to offer, I was extremely disappointed. Not only did I waste almost $9 on a basic, BEC, but I was really looking forward to a delicious breakfast that would kick off what started to be an awesome day. First off, the girl at the counter didn't even give me a choice between which meat I wanted in the sandwich. In this case, I really wanted sausage but ended up getting bacon. The bacon tasted like no-frills meat, which probably came from an extremely low grade source. Not only was it rubbery without any sort of crisp, I also tasted several hard little pieces of what I'm imagining as bone in at least 6 different bites (see attached picture). There were also parts of the bacon that were not even chewable which I literally had to remove from my mouth and the eggs were microscopic to the point where they didn't even fill the sandwich. Again, my point in writing this, if you're going to charge an exorbitant amount for a basic sandwich, at least let it be somewhat decent. This sandwich was disgusting on so many levels and I'm disappointed that I let myself get price gouged by your greedy establishment. I will never go back, and I'm only writing this to warn others so that they don't experience the same disappointment. If you're looking for a good bacon, egg and cheese, look elsewhere. Not only will you save money but your stomach and expectations will so much...
Read moreI LOVE the Classic Reuben for lunch. Fries and corn fritters are delicious! For breakfast I’ve had the Upstate and it left me in a happy state of bliss. They put maple syrup on your sandwich! 😍 Unfortunately, you probably won’t get your full order. My last 4 visits in a row, something was missing. Had to change my 5* review to a 3* because I’m sick of them ruining someone’s meal. How do you forget a hamburger, when we ordered 2 meals? That’s half the order. I’ve been handed my food without the beverages I paid for. Why? Put them in the bag with everything else I’m leaving with. Also, no one answers the 631# they had associated with the business. I’ve left messages without a call back. So disappointing. The food is so good. What’s worse is I’m paying so much for the food. Not worth it...
Read moreI’m very divided and confused about this place. First of all, these is not a deli much less a neighborhood one. It’s a sandwich shop. I don’t get the decor or the “vibe”: really cold all white ceramic tiles everywhere giving out a public pool locker room feeling, which is as inviting to sit down and have a sando as much as that. Now the food: 15, 16 and 18 bucks for a pretty average size sub is quite pricey, especially from a “neighborhood deli”. I’ve tried the fried chicken one and the Philly cheesesteak and they are very underwhelming. Overly sweet for some reason, soggish and poorly stuffed. Not super bad but meh. For really good sandwiches better bet would be sorriso’s or sal, kris & Charlie’s deli. Or any...
