ER HOT POT - 6TH AVE 贰火锅 — Restaurant in New York

I visited this restaurant because I read many good reviews and saw its decent rating (4.8). However, my overall experience was fair, and I don't think I'll return.

Price: The prices here are high. For example, the restaurant charges $16.99 for a two-flavor soup base. If the restaurant operated on an all-you-can-eat basis or included some basic veggies, meats, or mushrooms with the soup base, the pricing might seem reasonable. However, charging $16.99 solely for the soup base seems excessive given the "pay for what you eat" system. While the other ingredients are fresh, the portions are small and expensive compared to other places.

Service: The staff is friendly, but there were issues with the "all-you-can-drink beers" service. Despite ordering our first beer via the provided tablet, it took 7-10 minutes to receive it. We had to remind the staff about our order before finally receiving the beers. Although the meal service was prompt, the beer service was not, despite using the same ordering system.

Food: The white soup was a bit salty but still tasty. The red soup was hot and spicy, and also tasty. The tofu skin and fresh-cut brisket were a bit underwhelming. The mushrooms and veggies were fresh, but the mushroom portions were disappointing.

Atmosphere: The restaurant is clean and spacious.

Overall: My experience was fair, but if I decide to have hot pot again, I will likely choose another place. I might not visit this place for...

Staff is very nice but honestly, my boyfriend and I both got horrible food poisoning only hours after visiting this place. We were both sick for a few days after visiting.

FOOD: For the price which was pretty steep, we decided to order a package that came with a lot. We ordered shrimp, a variety of beef, chicken and the two-broth pots. We didn’t finish everything and felt super full when leaving. Got very lethargic when we got home and then felt all the symptoms soon after. Horrible.

Here’s the thing. I’ve done hot pot many many times at other K BBQ restaurants. Never ever had this experience before. Red flags: the serve red would pour hot water from a kettle into your broth when it started to go down, thus changing the temperature of the broth. You would then “cook” your meat (whether is was lightly defrosted or raw) in the water, new temp completely unknown - this is has to be how we got food poisoning. Additionally, I should’ve noticed this in hindsight but the chicken we ordered was raw and I honestly couldn’t tell what temp I was cooking it to in the broth.

After eating here I was scarred from hot pot for months. Seriously, both my boyfriend and I were violently ill the rest of the night into the early morning the next day. The nausea and upset stomach lingered on and off for a day or 2 afterward. Go...
