We were a few days into our NYC trip and my family and I were spent from the walking we had to that day. We wanted something quick that I could run out and get that was close to our hotel.
Main noodle house was a block away and had good reviews. We ordered General Zao's chicken and beef and broccoli. We sprung for upgrading our rice to fried rice. We spent a little over $55. The food was way more than the 3 of us could eat. We spent the night in the room watching Men in Black 2 & 3 and enjoying the food with chopsticks. The rice portions were generous. They were even courteous enough to give us paper plates.
My one warning is that everything was greasy. There was even grease on the baggies that held utensils and napkins. Get extra napkins from somewhere. Luckily we had been storing up unused napkins that week from other lunches and we used them all.
Another tip to deal with the grease is instead of upgrading both to fried rice, just upgrade one and mix it with white...
Read moreI went with my husband for our honeymoon to New york and this was the first place where we had our first meal. It was ok. Then we went again on our last day and it also was fine. The question remains in why am I giving One star... On the last day I paid with my credit card the amount of the food and left the gratuity in cash. Then they told me to collect the cash because they already charged the gratuity on my card. Then again while leaving the owner told me why did I pick up the cash and they discovered that they got confused and I left since it was not my problem. Its been 5 days since then and today when I opened my account they returned the amount I paid and charged me the previous amount plus the gratuity which i find ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! How can a restaurant be so cheap on charging 5 days later 4 miserable dollars after I came back?? Never experienced something like that. I dont recommend this place and I aware all of you that they can charge whatever they want days after....
Read moreThis place offers large portions to eat when you’re super hungry! My husband got the orange beef/chicken and it was amazing!!! We saw several people order the orange chicken, so it seems like a favorite. Comes with a side of broccoli and white rice and we would definitely request this again. I tried the chicken lo mein and while it was delicious, I would’ve preferred to have more veggies in it. The noodles were really great though, not too mushy, and a great salty taste. The fried pork dumplings and wontons were yummy and would recommend to share amongst 2-4 people. My friend ordered the spicy chicken Pad Thai here and it was a bit more mushy than she would’ve liked, so just an FYI for those who don’t like that. The service was great and after a whole day of sight seeing and walking, this sure did make us super full. For those who cannot eat with chopsticks, this was one of the few grade A Chinese places that offered plates with a spoon and fork directly...
