I have been a Del Frisco’s customer for many years, especially at the midtown location for both the steakhouse and the grill and I have always enjoyed the good quality of the food and the service. I wish I could say the same for the del frisco’s grill downtown location. Never did I think that I could play musical chairs with my table. We were a party of four a couple of four on June 27, 2018 around 7:30 pm and we asked for a table outside knowing that there is a chance of rain. The hostess informed us that there was a table inside that she could sit us on and if we decide to site outside then we should know that if the rain starts after we have ordered our food we will not be sited indoors and we would access to the bar for which she could not guarantee a spot. The minute we sat down the rain started and before we ordered we went back to the hostess and told her that we would take up on her suggestion to sit inside. Even though a few minutes had only passed by and we could see an available table in front of us she claimed that there was no availability now. When we indicated that the opentable has availability for every 15 min spot she said that the app is not correct and insisted that she could not sit us and our only option was to stand at the bar. Five minutes later the fourth member of our party joined us and when we explain the situation to him he immediately made a reservation on open table at that point and immediately after he checked in with the hostess, who walked him and us with him to the table that had been available right in front of us. As much as we would like to give the hostess the benefit of the doubt it was abundantly clear that her behavior and actions were to say the least untruthful and reflected badly on what we have known to be stellar quality of service from Del Frisco’s. I sure hope that this is not some new seating policy on the part of the business and if it is not, then she definitely was not the “hostess with...
Read moreThis place is a debacle. It's become a bit of a joke with my colleagues that when someone asks if I want to go to lunch, I first ask if it's going to be at Del Frisco's, because if it is, I am out.
The menu is fine, the space is fine, but the execution repeatedly fails. The name makes you expect a really good meal. Everything I've had has peaked at average.
Let's talk about specifics, across numerous visits:
"Oh, this fish dish sounds good." Prepare to get some absolutely hammered, overcooked fish. Let me order a completely reasonable cocktail for any NYC bar. (Many minutes elapse...) "We don't have one of the ingredients." Somehow my home bar is more well equipped than theirs... Where, oh where, has our server gone? During one lunch, I wondered if they had simply walked off the job because it had been so long since we'd seen them. After meal after disappointing meal, I finally decided I was going to align my order to what I thought had the minimal chance to get screwed up. I ordered a caesar salad with a lobster tail as the protein. The caesar dressing part was fine. The brown lettuce was not. (Spoiler alert, the lobster tail was, you guessed it, hammered.) And for the price you'd think they could pop the tail from the shell. Instead, I was trying to do it while not splattering it on me or the rest of my party.
I do not understand how this place stays in existence. It is the best example of phoning it in and cashing in on a name I've ever...
Read moreI’m not sure what has happened to this place, but it has completely lost its sense of purpose. From the food to the service, everything was just horrible.
We booked a table a day before to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary. In the past, Del Frisco’s used to be a good choice, and this would have been our fifth time here. Unfortunately, this experience was dreadful:
The loudest person in the venue was the bartender, who was talking louder than the music, entertaining the venue's staff and a couple of guests sitting at the bar. I felt like I was at Yankee Stadium, not in a restaurant. Two appetizers and coffee were served almost cold. I lost my patience after a separate order of French fries arrived cold. We sat for about 40 minutes, and no one even bothered to ask us how the food was. Finally, we decided not to wait for the main course, as our disappointment was building up. I asked for the check, but one of their senior waiters told me that the bill would be waived due to our dissatisfaction. Fair enough, but why did he try to convince me that the food would have arrived cold from the kitchen anyway? We left with bad memories and lost time, and our anniversary was already spoiled. My main observation about this place is the lack of management and perhaps inexperienced, understaffed personnel.
For a long time, we will avoid this place, and I advise you to be cautious if you decide to spend some quality time with your...
