I am from Toronto and visited Dos Toros in August 2022 with my nephew and he got a me a beyond meat Burrito (said it was beef) and it was really good. So when my sister, her husband came to visit us in TO we drove to NYC and with my wife I insisted on going to Dos Toros (Brookfield Place) - it was 7.00 PM Friday, Sep 5 and the staff were less than welcoming - said they only have an hour to close. I ordered the Quesadilla with chicken for my sister and the chicken + beef mix for ourselves with some Pacifico beer - everything after that was a no. We requested that they put the Quesadilla on the grill - NO! - asked if they could cut the Quesadilla - a rude no, asked for cutlery - NO-NO!. It got to the point with my wife asking the 2 guys and 2 ladies there if they did not want to serve us why bother - The meat and chicken inside the Quesadilla were cold and We chucked ours out and walked out of Brookfield Place and got ourselves a Hot dog from the very kind vendor there with some awesome crinkly fries. On the way back we went to La Galleria in Niagara Falls NY so we leave with a good memory of Mexican food. You do not feel like eating in a place when the people serving you are rude and do not want serve you well. I am left embarrassed and disappointed for bringing my family in.....thankfully had some great experiences at Biggies, NJ as they know how to treat...
Read moreHad a quick bite here during lunch. The crowd wasn't very large so service was fairly quick. I'm throwing a one star here based on attitude and quality of food.
Attitude - when an employee of a food establishment asks you, "whuchu wan on it?" with a side of sass (ordering a quesadilla) you know things aren't gonna go well. The term I believe used to define this mannerism is 'ratchet'.
Food - ok. What the hell. A quesadilla is not a rolled up tortilla with corn. Why are you putting corn in the quesadilla? Did you run out of typical quesadilla fillers? Why does my quesadilla look like a sandwich? Where am I? Have I transcended this reality into one where quesadillas are sandwiches and vice versa?? I digress. If the quesadilla sandwich was at the very least edible I would have tolerated. It was not. Allow me to reiterate the previous statement - the quesadilla was not edible. I could have fished around in the garbage bins out back to find better food.
Sigh. The chic stylings and pretty lights won't fool me again. You win this round, hood...
Read moreThis was one of the most degrading experiences I’ve ever had at any restaurant — anywhere. At Dos Toros in Brookfield Place, a male employee decided to publicly humiliate me for not ordering the way he liked. He wasn’t confused. He wasn’t busy. He was just being an arrogant jerk, making a spectacle out of embarrassing a customer.
It was mean, deliberate, and flat-out abusive. There is absolutely no excuse for this kind of behavior. It shows a complete lack of professionalism, training, and basic human decency.
The fact that this kind of person is allowed to represent the brand is pathetic. It ruined my day and honestly tainted my whole trip to New York. There are countless Mexican restaurants in this city that actually respect their customers.
Avoid this place...
