NYC Cycleboats — Local services in New York

I want to give this a good review because the actual boat ride/views/vibe were great, but the handling of my reservation was unprofessional and deceitful. I rented out a full boat for my birthday for 20+ people. Naturally, I expected to have the whole boat to our party except for the captain and a deckhand. As I was setting up food and music we noticed that there were two complete strangers on the boat with us, taking up the already limited seating space and UNMASKED despite the event being held during the pandemic with mask mandates and recommendations still in full effect. The uninvited couple was previously seen being extremely rude and abrasive to the parking/security staff who everyone in my actual party found to be polite, helpful, and professional. When my girlfriend asked about the two strangers, she was rudely dismissed and told that "they work for me" by the deckhand. The individuals were not in uniform, we're not introduced to anyone as staff, so who knows if they actually work for the company or just hitched a ride because their friend happens to work there? The entire boat ride we had to dodge the couple on the already crowded boat, ask them to move out of the way for photos, and members of my party had to stand while the couple sat and enjoyed the views. A group of us from work (Jersey City teachers) booked an entire boat for a 4pm tour on our last day of school and, though we expected something fun, we were so pleasantly surprised by what we got! The boat was clean, comfortable and just the right size for our group of about 15. Chris and Joseph (our crew of 2) were professional, accommodating and attentive as they steered the boat but at the same time were super laid back and let us do our thing as we sang, danced, ate, drank, laughed and peddled. BYOB, music and snacks, NYC Cycleboats provides cups, ice and coolers. The views of NYC, Jersey City and Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island were unmatched. Photo-op after Instagrammable photo-op for an hour and 40 minutes straight. All our group has been talking about is when we should book again, we'd like to make it a beginning and end of school ritual....

October 17, 2021 I rented the entire boat for my son‘s 19th birthday. My family and especially my son had a great time. It was a wonderful experience thanks to Captan Dave who came in on his day off & his shipmate Colin who was done for the day and stayed so that we could get on the boat. We started off at the Jersey City pier but due to a steering issue on the boat, which was beyond anyone’s control, we ended up getting on the boat in Hoboken. My family came from far and it would have been very difficult to get everyone together again to celebrate. I want to especially thank Chris for going above and beyond and making sure that we got on the boat that day to celebrate my son’s birthday.
