$7 Sushi Happy Hour with Unreal Views 🍣
Melanie TamMelanie Tam
*HAPPY HOUR REVIEW* I've been working in the area for years but never tried Blue Ribbon because it just seemed like basic, over-priced sushi. Fast forward to 2022 - my co-worker and I decided to drop in after work one day because she told me about their $5 handroll/BOGO select beer/sake happy hour (4-7). We arrived a little after five and there were a few people there already but still spacious enough to be several seats in between us and other diners (it seems to start getting crowded after 6). The deal is $5 tuna, salmon, yellowtail, cucumber, avocado handrolls. If you want to add cucumber, avocado, or make it spicy, each customization is extra. I had the spicy yellowtail, salmon avocado, and tuna hand roll. The spicy yellowtail was definitely the best. But the sauce is kind of just drizzled on top. I wish they mixed it in before rolling. Salmon was a bit bland and tasteless. Can't go wrong with tuna, my fave. The deal is also valid for takeout so it's nice if you don't feel like cooking that night. However, handrolls are meant to be eaten fresh/immediately or else the seaweed gets soggy. While the handrolls will satisfy the sushi craving, they aren't anything too special. I also don't think it would be worth it if it was regular price. That being said, I definitely don't mind coming back here again, but only during HH.

I have been a customer of the various Blue Ribbons since 2009 but decided I will never go back to this location: the sushi bar fish was stale the last few times. Dry, no luster. The salmon eggs (Ikura) today were bad. Owner take notice: there is a reason your sushi bar is always empty, and every other place around you is always packed. In fact the only business you are getting are the more reasonably priced Poke bowls to go. You have also cordoned off 3 large white tables and they are always empty, in addition to most of the very long sushi bar. Vicious circle: very few customers ordering the nigiri and hence the fish is never fresh. Complete mismatch of price to quality is why this location is mostly empty

The worse service ever!!! The counters employees are untrained, full of attitude and don't listen to any customers requests. We asked if we could have the 3 rolls with added crunch, the employee was quick to deny the request and walked away. "Excuse me" I said I continue:" r u telling me that you can't make the rolls crunchy even if we pay for it" Blue ribbon employee: oh yes, if you pay for it we can add the crunch to it. Me: why would u assume I was not going to pay for some extra Blue ribbon employee: smirks and walks away I pick up my order for which he charged me 3 dollars extra for the crunch. I guessed it was $1 extra for each roll. When I opened my order, I realised that the rolls were not made following the instructions and the crunch was put in a small container on the side and it wasn't enough for the 3 rolls. 30 dol for a very bad experience and disappointing rolls. My friend had a similar experience but I will let her write her own review. Really need to train your employees better and tell them to treat customers...

A Sushi Gem at Hudson Eats!

We had lunch today there (located in Hudson Eats), and once again, it was absolutely delicious! From the fresh and flavorful Edamame to the perfectly balanced Eel on White Rice, every dish hits the spot. The California Rolls were a classic done right—fresh, creamy, and satisfying. The House Salad with Ginger Dressing was light and refreshing, a great start to the meal. And the SUSHI & MAKI COMBO? A total winner—generous portions, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavors. My niece is obsessed with this place, and honestly, I get it. We keep coming back because the quality is consistent, the staff are always polite, helpful, and thoughtful, and the atmosphere at Hudson Eats is spacious and relaxed—perfect for a casual lunch or a meet-up with friends. This has become my go-to spot when I have company over. If you love sushi, you won’t go wrong here. It’s also one of my sister’s and niece’s favorite places to eat, which says a lot....
