I visited Fan Fried Rice Bar last week and had a pleasant experience during my short time there. I took advantage of my Yelp Elite perk which included a complimentary appetizer (up to $7) and a complimentary entree. They only had two appetizers on the menu for $7 (golden kimchi salad and cucumber salad). If I wanted anything other than those two I would've had to pay the difference. During my visit they only had one of the two $7 appetizers available. They were completely out of the golden kimchi salad so I went with the cucumber salad. I was initially disappointed that they didn't have the other option but once I tasted the cucumber salad that disappointment went away. It was absolutely delicious. Wow! Fresh and juicy pickled cucumbers chopped and seasoned with an incredible chili onion base. The whole time I was thinking to myself, "I need to make this at home (or a similar version of it)."
For my entree I was torn between three options but, with the server's recommendation, I went with the Sha Cha Beef seasonal fried rice (flat iron steak, chili, mushroom, bullhead barbecue sauce). It was a generous portion, enough for two people that aren't super hungry. The rice was so light and the meat perfectly seasoned. It was a great choice and I thanked my gracious server for suggesting it. I cleaned the bowl lol.
I would definitely recommend Fan Fried Rice Bar if you're ever in that section of Williamburg. Reasonably priced and incredible food. Thanks to the FFRB staff and Brooklyn Yelp CM Morlene for an...

Fan Fried Rice Bar is a very unassuming small spot on the corner of Driggs, you might miss it if you are not paying attention. We had 7pm reservations, I arrived early and lucked up and found parking right across the street on a lovely Friday. (Now that's BK Love!)
Once we settled and perused the menu, we went with popcorn chicken as the appetizer and glass of wine and sake to start. The popcorn chicken was flavorful, well seasoned and pipping hot. It paired nicely with the glass of wine I ordered and the drizzle of sriracha, I added.
For the Fried Rice we ordered the Spicy Mango Shrimp and the seasonal fried rice of Sha Cha Beef. The seasonal fried rice consisted of flat iron steak, mushroom, chili, and bullhead barbecue sauce. I didn't try my friend’s rice because I do not eat red meat. I ordered the Spicy Mango Shrimp which contained bell peppers, chili, mango and of course shrimp. The rice was tasty but lacked the spice I was expecting.
On the menu there are options for an array of different fried rice & protein options as well as a few small plates and beverages.
Overall a nice introduction to Taiwanese inspired street food and a local business that I may otherwise not have been aware of. This is a small restaurant with a few tables for outdoor seating and a staff that is attentive and pleasant.
Just A Note:

Read moreTo the owner: Please make sure you taste what your chefs cooked before it’s served to customers. This is NOT fried rice. It’s just white rice with salt. We ordered pork chop fried rice and pastrami fried rice. Both were tasteless. The meat part was good, but the rice… meh. Where’s the flavor of onions, scallions, eggs, oil and wok hay? And the texture of the rice was pretty sad… dry and hard. This was not just my personal experience. A friend of mine went to your restaurant a couple weeks after my visit and she experienced the same. I usually don’t leave reviews on Google unless it’s extremely good or… extremely bad. Unfortunately, this place falls into the later category. This quality is very questionable, especially when you named your restaurant Fan Fried Rice, which is supposed to be specialized in fried rice. Try the pork chop fried rice from WenWen. That’s how a good fried rice should taste like. I really hope you could see this review and make improvements as your restaurant is representing a certain group of people. Don’t give wrong image of fried rice to people who didn’t grow up with this rice culture.
*Despite the very disappointing fried rice,...
