Fourth Avenue Pub — Restaurant in New York

It’s a nice and cozy pub and drink were fairly priced. My friends and I got back from a basketball game at Barclays and we stopped by to catch another game that was playing. We ordered our drinks which they have a $15 minimum for card. Usually I’m used to tipping when I pay with the card after ordering my drink. But because I had to pay in cash, I figured that I would tip with cash once I leave the pub.

This bartender comes up to us repeatedly, asking if we’re going to order anything else. Hounding at us because we each got ourselves one drink. I still have my drink halfway finished. Others were there as well to watch the game, what makes us any different especially since we ordered drinks so it’s not like we were loitering.

I guess it was the final straw for this bartender since she said that we had to get out and berating us for not tipping her when we ordered the drinks: which again, we figured in all of our experiences in past bars, we either tip with the card reader or at the very end (leaving cash on the bar etc.) when we leave. Her attitude definitely made us change our mind about the tipping after she basically forced me to chug my drink as she watched. Saying that it was a “good idea” for me to chug so that we could leave faster.

I really wanted to like this place and it’s a really nice atmosphere. I would come back but not when that bartender is there. It really doesn’t make sense to kick paying customers out especially when the pub wasn’t even that packed...

Been coming to this spot for over a year. I work in the area and it’s on the way to the train to go home so it’s convenient. Came here Halloween night. Brought a colleague of mine. I bought the first round . Bartender was nice drinks were great. Second round my colleague bought and when we took a sip the drink tasted like juice no liquor. We went back to the bar and asked the bartender to spike it ( more liquor). He stated to her The drink is fine you didn’t tip me you want something for free. I didn’t know that you have to tip to get what was already paid for. Not to mention he was loud enough for people to hear. It was alll so embarrassing. she asked for the owner man behind the bar stated he’s the owner. Needless to say we left unhappy and embarrassed . I tipped first round ( different bartender). She always tip on the way out after good customer service. He was rude and embarrassing. The bar was full and people heard. Needless to say I won’t be back. Would not recommend. Ruined my Halloween. Will take my money elsewhere no worth the Hassle or embarrassment. Should have known it wasn’t gonna be a good night when we had to walk around a stroller in the way to get to the bar. Yess a...

So, I never leave bad reviews. I was just here, sat at the bar alone. Bartender is busy so I'm waiting for like 5 minutes, and then they take a smoke break. Okay whatever.
