We booked Brianna for private lessons to do a custom choreographed first dance for our wedding. Brianna exceeded even our wildest expectations with her amazing choreography and teaching style. We were not dancers by any stretch of the imagination and after two months of private lessons Brianna said we looked like athletes on the dance floor. Brianna choreographed a custom wedding dance for us, consisting of 1min of Dua Lipa’s “Levitating” and 1min of Rihanna’s “We Found Love.” We wanted to incorporate some classical dance moves along with pop and hip hop moves, which Brianna wove together seamlessly.
Brianna broke down our dance into a small series of moves and helped us learn the steps and choreography as well as dance fundamentals that served us well throughout our lessons. Brianna was patient, kind, and adaptive to our feedback on the moves and how we learned best. Brianna made changes to the choreography as she learned more about how we danced as a pair and based on our direct feedback to her. We finished learning the full dance in 7 out of 10 lessons, leaving the last 3 lessons to practice and polish the dance. On our last day, Brianna brought in a friend to pretend to act like a cheering, distracting audience to help us prepare for the vibe of the big day. This is just one example of how Brianna went above and beyond to ensure we were prepped, excited, and confident for our big performance.
Our families and friends were floored by our dance and it was one of the top highlights of our wedding, and quite possibly our lives. Briana was a huge driving force behind enabling this to happen. We highly recommend Brianna as a dance instructor and choreographer...
Read moreThe teachers and owners are super friendly. Everyone is really welcoming. There are a lot of regulars who seem to be there constantly.
A lot of the classes especially more beginner ones get super crowded so that there is hardly space to move or see. This also makes it difficult to learn as much. A lot of the classes are only taught by one teacher who has always been a lead in my times there, so there isn't a lot of instruction tailored to follows. The teachers also don't dance with the class or rotate so feedback is limited.
Even the intermediate classes don't go much into styling, connection, or musicality and seem to be more focused on a turn pattern or short choreography that is repeated for the rest of the class. I feel I haven't been developing as much as a dancer as I should be and instead am learning to memorize turn patterns which is primarily useful for leads. It is emphasized to follow the choreography rather than to feel what your partner is leading which isn't very helpful for social dancing.
The classes always seem to start and end a bit late usually around 10 minutes. The back to back classes make it chaotic during the turnover and if you come early or on time there is nowhere to wait. The place is long and narrow and the coat racks are in the far back so whenever people come in and out of class they are trying to move behind while you're dancing which is distracting especially in the really...
Read moreFor clarification purposes, I have been dancing Salsa for nearly 12 months now. After taking classes for 3 months, I began to social dance at various venues such as LCL, Taj, Candela.
I first came across this school's information via the primary instructor (Marcus) Facebook page. Clearly any school that shows what they are working on is genuine and isn't afraid to showcase their style.
I was immediately captivated by Marcus' smooth style and decided to visit them.
The floor is discolored but works fine for my dance shoes. The space is small yet deceptively big enough to accommodate all of the students.
The attention to detail provided by Marcus and his display of various executions is superb as well as their welcoming environment.
I highly recommend that anyone in the Brooklyn area go take a lesson with them and be the judge of their smooth style and adaptive...
