We spent Christmas at the red rooster , a bar downstairs Ginny’s Supper club. One of the best experience at NYC , the food was amazing and very good price , but the music, wooow, we enjoy every single second of it, the group was amazing, the vibe and the service ! I’m glad we found it !!!! Great place!

Came here for the Sunday Gospel brunch and I would agree that this is one of the best experiences you can have in NY, complete with delicious food and even better gospel music in the background. It’s very interactive and the food keeps you full throughout. Loved the fried chicken especially.

This was my first time attending the Gospel Brunch at Ginny’s. It’s a nice space in the lower level of The Red Rooster, the famed restaurant on Lexington Ave. Pros:

  1. Attentive Staff, my water was constantly refilled throughout the show
  2. Adequate and roomy seating
  3. Performers were amazing and engaging
  4. Buffet had a smorgasbord of selections (the pork bacon was the best I’ve ever had and the beef brisket was a close second)
  5. Music level was appropriate for the space
  6. Clean bathrooms Cons:
  7. No paper towels to dry our hands in the bathroom
  8. The food was hit or miss. The shrimp in the gumbo were mushy (obviously frozen and over cooked and not fresh shrimp). The waffles almost gave me diabetes! Not only was the batter sweet but the butter used as a topping was sugar butter and it was sprinkled with confectioners sugar and fruit! The pineapple cake was the same sugary consistency. Between those things I just didn’t enjoy my meal as much as I expected.
  9. The Performance: Being a black Christian woman of faith I enjoy a good gospel show as much as any BUT toward the end the show felt minstrel. I say this because of the guise of the Holy Spirit the singers pretended to be under as they proceeded to shout (black colloquialism for rhythmic steps and verbal praise when taken over by the Holy Spirit) during a song at the end of the show. Tourist don’t need to see us clowning. Sing your songs, do your secular dances and earn your coins without making a mockery...

The only reason I'm giving Ginny's a 5 * rating is because the performance from Black Lion on June 1st was outstanding. Sorry to say the cornbread was just ok. The block party ribs were nothing to brag about and ceasar potato salad lacked flavor. I hear these chef's on TV all the time saying they have to make a dish their own but this rib dish needs to be revamped ASAP. So for this reason I have to say the food is over priced. I almost forgot to mention dessert was also a bust. Unfortunately we had to send back the hot honey yardbird dish most likely because it was fried in the same fryer which is also cooking some type of shellfish like their crabcakes or something. Since my wife is severely allergic to shellfish this means I also don't want to take a chance of eating something that can be transferred to her. I hope this is not the case for chef Samuelson's other businesses. I suppose when a person owns several establishments it becomes very difficult to maintain a chef's standard. All and all do recommend to have dinner elsewhere and then catch a the very good live...

Absolutely beautiful experience from start to finish. I brought my parents, who were visiting from out of town, and we were all blown away. The gospel choir was out of this world—their voices, their energy, the way they interacted with the audience—it was truly something special. You could feel the joy and connection between the singers, and that spirit filled the whole room. My parents even got to sing a little on the mic, which made the moment even more memorable.

The brunch buffet was also a standout. Everything was fresh, high-quality, and well-prepared—definitely a level above the usual buffet experience.

**The only small notes I’d offer are that we didn’t hear back when we reached out ahead of time about a dietary restriction, and it was a bit warm downstairs with limited airflow—something to keep in mind depending on the time of year. That said, neither took away from how beautiful and joyful the overall experience was.

Highly recommend to anyone visiting or local—you...
