Edited: I gave them another try, and they did better, but this is on a trial basis. I will update the number of stars if the improvements are consistent.
Every time I order something that requires modifications, from the Court Street location, staff never seem to be able follow simple instructions. Even the label clearly says "No plant-based cheese," and "No plant-based egg," yet they put only those on the croissant when I only wanted the plant-based sausage. This accentuates how they do not even do a basic quality check to ensure that instructions on the label were followed before sending it to the customer via delivery.
I beseeched Gregory's to refrain from firing anybody and to give staff the proper training and guidance they need instead, and I still have the same sentiment; the people responding to my message assured me that they would take my feedback and request to properly train staff into consideration, yet this is still occurring when it should not. Even if Gregory's justification is that the system looks different from their end through the software program, the fact still remains that the labels placed on the packaging clearly indicate what was requested to NOT be added to the croissant. These constant blunders do not make your business appear trustworthy when staff lack the sophistication to have these major oversight issues. They appear to disregard, or lack awareness about, the simple directions on the labels and simple reading comprehension. They need guidance and better training, in a dignified, patient manner. They do not need exile, hence I — again — beseech you to find a better way to train your staff. I want staff to learn and develop skills, not to be fired and without income.
The quality of the food and beverages themselves is stellar, and the wide array of options Gregory's Coffee has — especially for people on plant-based diets — is commendable, but the delivery service is subpar and candidly laughable.
I wanted to give this business another chance, but I can no longer waste my time, money, and convenience on a poorly run establishment that cannot seem to devise viable solutions to reduce staff errors. Perhaps, I will give this particular location a few months to improve before investing in it again.
*I should be clear that I have only had experience with the Court Street, Brooklyn location, not other establishments of Gregory's Coffee. This is only reflective of this particular location and my anecdotal experiences with it.
I will be more than happy to remove this rating in the future if Gregory's Coffee finds an ethical, caring way to train their staff to minimize errors like this. I understand that these businesses are bustling, but if many of the large corporate chains have staff who can manage variations in consumers' requests to customize the items, you likely could do it, too! Try to remember, leaders are also educators, and it is important to make education digestible, engaging, relevant to real-world scenarios, and fun! Give these staff members the education and guidance they need,...
Read moreI work in the area, and have been a happy “Gregular” for years. Great coffee, greater staff!!! Always feel welcomed and appreciated. And for 3/4 of the year, it’s one of my favorite places to be!
However, I’m very disappointed that this is at least the 3rd summer in a row that these poor workers have had to power through without properly working air conditioning.
In the brutal oven that is NYC in the summer, thirsty people searching for a cool drink expect a break in the heat when they open a door, not a waft of even hotter air. And if it’s hard for us, imagine how much harder it is for the workers hustling near ovens and milk steamers to take care of their now even grumpier clientele.
I hope that the air conditioning situation gets sorted soon, so they don’t have go through another heat wave...
Read moreI stopped by this afternoon with a colleague to introduce him to Gregorys Coffee!
Had the pleasure of meeting Jasmine - a true gem of professional expertise and all else that matters! Her service was exemplary. Not too mention that she was easy to engage with and simply put, a pleasant human being.
I asked to hold onto her positive aura and do not allow anyone to pick at her glow, lest she succumb to associated misery. Lastly, I pointed out a beautiful song that was sung by The Isley Brothers and part of the lyrics references her name.
Thank you, again Lady Jasmine. Our teas were delicious and the scone was the absolute best, this side north of the Mason Dixie Line, and that, mon chere' says a lot.
I look forward to my next visit and wish you heavenly vibes, peace and calm...
