This place taught me a lesson. When a New York menu says something is hot, it means it. I'm thinking that Midwest hot is New York mild in most cases.

That being said, the food was really good. I ordered the Chicken Vindaloo and a Kathi Roll. The Vindaloo is what made me realize the difference in spiciness ratings. The first bite I took was like fire. Good fire but fire nonetheless. There were a couple of sauces on the table that I ended up using pretty liberally to take the edge off the heat. I'd don't know what they were but they helped me survive my dinner choice.

I had never had a Kathi Roll before and was totally impressed with it. I love cottage cheese and was intrigued by the idea of homemade cottage cheese being mixed with onions and peppers. It was definitely the highlight of my meal. But it was also pretty big.

Service was good, restaurant was in nice shape and the prices seemed reasonable.

I left with clear sinuses and a full, if somewhat scorched, tummy.

I would definitely go back again but I'd be downgrading the heat...

BEWARE OF EXTRA CHARGES

My friend recently dined at Himalayan Curry House in Manhattan and had a highly disappointing experience. They noticed they were charged a higher tip amount than what was mentioned on the check. When they called to clarify, the response from the staff was nothing short of frustrating.

The person who answered the phone was dismissive and rude, denying that any mistake had been made and even blaming my friend for the issue. Despite clear evidence of the discrepancy, they refused to recheck the bill or take responsibility, instead claiming it was my friend’s fault for not addressing it earlier—even though the charge appeared a week later!

The restaurant claims to offer a “fine dining” experience, but the reality is far from it. The food was average, the atmosphere was plain, and there were barely any customers.

CHECK YOUR BILL CAREFULLY if you choose to dine here. This restaurant’s lack of professionalism, coupled with their unwillingness to address genuine concerns, makes it a place I...

BEWARE OF OVERCHARGES

My friend had a terrible experience at Himalayan Curry House in Manhattan. The restaurant charged a higher tip amount than what was mentioned on the check. When my friend called to clarify, the person who answered the phone was extremely rude and dismissive. Instead of addressing the issue, he denied any extra charges and blamed my friend, claiming it was their mistake.

To make matters worse, the staff refused to recheck the bill or take responsibility, even though the discrepancy appeared a week later. They also made excuses, saying my friend should have called earlier—completely ignoring their fault.

Despite claiming to be a "fine dining" establishment, the restaurant was nearly empty, the atmosphere was ordinary, and the food was far from exceptional.

CHECK YOUR BILL CAREFULLY if you plan to dine here. The lack of accountability, unprofessional behavior, and mediocre food make this place highly disappointing. I do not...
