Jacob Restaurant — Restaurant in New York

I am not a buffet person but I was in the area for work and needed something inexpensive and fast without it being fast food. If that's what you want this is the stop to make in the area. Overall 4 stars for real food with good service at a very clean location at a great price. My rating is broken down as follows:

5- Price $6.95 plate they weight just incase you over pack your plate which is understandable.

4-variety of salads (iceberg, arugula, tuna, macaroni, etc), sides (yams, corn, greens, string beans, mashed potatoes), entrees (ribs, chicken-fried/curried/ barbecued, oxtails). Plus more.

4- service they did their job no complaints.

3- food taste average nothing exceptional but it's real food fast and not franchise food.

Jacob’s is very convenient for me when I want to grab a quick bite to eat. There are usually times where I don’t really care for the food and other times the food is very good, however I’ve never had a yuck moment until today. I had a taste for fried chicken and purchased two pieces, needless to say it looked so good and crispy but when I got home and was about to eat a piece it was spoiled(ROTTING) I can remember a faint smell when picking out my two pieces of chicken but didn’t give it much thought but now I know why. I am utterly disgusted and now I have a headache. You can’t make these kind of mistakes when it comes to food and serving it to people, it’s a major health hazard people can get seriously ill or even die from things like this. I was visiting a friend and saw she didnt live far from this spot so in we went. The restaurant is small and definitely a take out spot. The selection wasnt as big as I expected but what they did have looked delicious. As soon I walked in I smelled so many yummy flavors. The price per pound is fair an you can sample a little of everything which I did. They had two buffet stands one with the salads and fruits that I didnt give a second glance and the main one with all the soul food goodies.
